Team for "short" league

Post by Cephme »

I am playing in a 7 week league with playoffs to follow.

There are only 6 teams playing in it and 3 of them are either dwarf or chaos dwarf. I was originally planning on playing lizard men, but that seems suicidal. I currently own:

Amazons (even worse)
elves (Could be played as any variant)
Lizzies
Khemri
Humans
and Orcs

Which do you think I should play to be competitive and why?

PS we are playing LRB 4 this season and will be on LRB 5 come the fall.

IMO you should play with a fast/agile team, it would be hard at the beginnig but if you survive the first two matches you would find yourself with a good team with many spp

The other teams are slow so pick an agile one to balance the league.

hope it helps

In such a short league Dark Elves and Orcs seem to stand out for me. I believe Dark Elves could really do a number since they can develop fast, durable and are pretty reliable having access to 4 guys that start with block.

Too bad you don't have undead. That would be my first choice..

The other two teams in the league are humans and high elves

I did at one point have a necromantic team as well, but I am pretty sure those models have disappeared. I was thinking that might have been a good option. I think the LRB 5 Necros are going to be even better now that werewolves have regenerate and they lost the fido catch skill. Basically then I would mark the line men with zombies/flesh golems and go kill their runners with werewolves. Then just run circles around them with position players.

well being a CD i hate orcs. they have st.4 like my bc's and can actually pick up the ball (thrower) and block well, and score.

Very unfortunate. Necro wights now have str access so guard is much easier to obtain rather than waiting for a golem to skill. Catch was a good skill on the wolves but regen much better....

Orcs are great for stopping dwarves. Not so great at stopping elves.

Khemri would be evil. Mummies still get gen access and DP is very effective indeed...
