WE 4.0 - 110K to spend...

Post by Gambit »

Quick synapsis: my new woody team (1-1) has 1 WD, 10 Line elves (1 dodge, 1 str 4!), an apo and 2 RR. I have 110k in the treasury and am considering either:

A) exactly enough for a Treeman. Fate deciding for me?
B) another RR would be quite welcome...
C) suck it up for another game and get 2nd WD.

It's not for a league or anything so that doesn't have to factor in. I've been getting lucky with big earnings though, so whatever I purchase will have to last me another couple games before I can buy anything else.

If you think you can keep him aline, the Wardancer seems to be the better choice.

The treeman is just that, a tree, on a team of fast little guys, useful, but not necessary.

With the Wardancer, you havea better chance of earning the money for the reroll while giving him afew games to get SPPs.

Tree tree tree

Trees mean less dead line elves, therefore more money for new war dancers..

I think this is LRB 4.0 (from the title) so I'd say Tree as well.

The tree on the LOS means you can score more instead fo stalling to stop putting 3 elves on the LOS every other turn.

And the money for Wardancer 2 will be along shortly. Mean while you do want the line elves to get spp (2 dancers too soon starts hogging spp.) and skill up to support your excellent positionals.

I start 10 linemen, 1 Dancer 2 re-rolls and the rest FF.

1st buy is the apoth then the tree and WarDancer number 2. After that I replace dead linemen with Catchers. Always trying to get to over 11 men, but normally staying around 12 to 13.

Well, thanks for all the replies. I've been pretty lucky for my first two games, only 5 casualties and nothing worse than miss next game. (My WD failed his leap roll on turn 3 of the very first game, I already used my RR and he suffered a casualty!) 2nd game I had only 8 linos and lost another from the los on turn 1.

I'm thinking I will get a tree (it's one of the reasons I started WE, the other being they are the complete opposite style of my dwarfs!) One less lino on the los is a good thing, plus I really like the strategy of developing the linos as much as possible early on. Another RR is pretty tempting though...
