it's an idea. But with the 2 troll slayers with daunltess already, and most longbeards having guard anyway, it's not a skill I generally consider taking for Longbeards.

Each to their own. It is one of my favourites (after Guard, of course).

This is for why:

i) Troll Slayers die a lot. I rarely have two on a team because they are the most expensive and fragile thing on the team (relatively).

ii) Troll Slayers have Frenzy. If they don't get a knockdown first time they have to follow up and block again, probably without any assists, and maybe even with assists against.

iii) The biggest threat to Dwarfs (at high TR especially) is an Orc/Nurgle/Chaos/Khemri team throwing high ST beasties (with Guard themselves) into the front of your cage. You need a Longbeard in the think of it with Dauntless to help you out here. How many coaches lead their cages with Troll Slayers? They are much better suited as support players.

Side Step.

Got two side Step/Mighty BLow players on fumbbl. They got no guard because Side step was their second skill, but if the opponent blocks them on the Line I can choose to fall back to negate any following BLocks or more than once enter their side of the field if they got holes in their setup.

Site Step is the only skill which efectively brings the opponent to think to NOT BLock your players, because of the re positioning threat.

But you have to keep in mind that JU is no longer an automatic success: AG2-players need a 3+ to jump up and block. That's why I would only take this skill on AG3+ players.

That's true but even on an AG2 player this skills is useful.
You need a 3+ to be successful.
Or don't you even dodge with an AG3 player

Plus you only need the 3+ if you're blocking. You can Blitz without needing to roll this, or just jump up and move without needing to roll....
I think I know what to give my Black Orc with Jump Up on his next increase... Piling On
(Unless I roll a double then he might become a strange Elf/BlackOrc with Jump Up and Dodge!! LOL)

I agree that 3+ may not be too bad (although I tend to fail quite a lot of 3+ rolls  ) but I'd still rather pick something else on a double for a AG2-player. Diving Tackle, followed by Stand Firm would be a nasty combo (esp. as he already has Tackle).

Cheers
