Thick Skull & AV7

Post by Lemmy »

Does anybody have experience or numbers with taking thick skull on AV7 players (Norse, Zons and Hobgoblins, as Elves need those doubles for Guard)? I love the Skill on my CD Blockers as it saved me about 6 KO in 4 matches and now think about giving it to my Hobbos on doubles. I'd find it especially interesting to see some numbers about thick skull vs. +AV.

Ok, I don't have the experience, but I can help with the numbers.

There are 4 different ways to be knocked out with thick skull:

6&3, 3&6, 4&5, and 5&4.

There are 8 different ways of being knocked out without thick skull:

2&6, 6&2, 3&5, 5&3, 3&6, 6&3, 4&4, 4&5, and 5&4.

Therefore, thick skull keeps you on the pitch 50% more often than without thick skull. You're still stunned, though.

Personally, I'd take Fend to keep them in the game longer. Then you don't need to dodge to get away, and your opponent has to blitz to knock you down again. Thick skull after that.

Actually there are 9 KO results without thick skull, so its about 54% savings. I'm more interested in

KO or worse for AV7 + thick skull vs AV8. Fend isn't the option I'm looking for as it doesnt change the chances to stay on pitch when knocked down.

I think it would be better to get skills that will help keep your players on their feet, rather then skills that will help them once they are down.

Can't help you with the math, but I have to belive that the AV+ would be much better then thick skull.

KO is a "victory" when it comes to AV7, you're much better off with AV8 because it makes ALL injuries less likely, most notably the ones nobody likes.

I'm not interested in doing math. If I wanted to do that, I'd go back to working instead of screwing around on the internet.

Thick skull would require doubles on a hobgob wouldn't it? In which case Dodge (with the double effect) is far more useful. It stops more Av rolls than TS prevents KOs too.

What about taking thick skull on a skink in order to sort of negate the +! injury due to stunty? They already have dodge, I know block would probably be better, but just as an alternative double skill. Any thoughts?

IMO General skills like Block, Dauntless or Strip Ball are much better than this. If you want to let them survive give them Block. Blodge is far better then Thick Skull in my book.

But what if my Skink already had Block, Dauntless, Stripball, Sidestep, Guard, +1 ST, MB, Sure Feet, and Sprint. Would I want Thick Skull or +AV? :P

cheating skink as skill advances per player are capped way under 10 skills.
