Just played my firstleague match with my roster posted before. What shall I say, it rocks. My Bull scored a hattrick and my Blockers did 4 cas. Another cas was made by a Hobbo. Starting with 4 RR payed off as the Bull needed lots of them for ballhandling. 5 Blockers are a good way to hold the line and advance the cage, using the gobbos as mobile assists. One of them died though on a 2d both down block. Earning 50k bought me an apoth, and I still got 11 players for my next match vs norse.

I started like this:
2 Bull Centaurs
5 Chaos Dwarfs
4 Hobgoblins
3 Re-Rolls
2 Fan Factor
I wouldn't change a thing if I were to start over again. Haven't lost a match so far and is in the final against Fischerking
Team Roster: Black Widows
2 Bull Centaurs
5 Chaos Dwarfs
4 Hobgoblins
3 Re-Rolls
2 Fan Factor

Hey all! First post >_>
Ok, so a local group of me and my friends started up a BB league just recently. I entered the league with a Skaven team, but after 2 games (and a couple friendlies) it became obvious that I wasn't going to have much luck with them - my play style was too focused on the melee. I kept getting involved in vicious fights that went against me after 3 turns, and was losing to dwarf teams 4-0. :'(
So, I've decided to move to a Chaos Dwarf team. In respect to the fact that i'm partway through a league, I get to keep my teams total value, but don't transfer any star player points. This leaves me with 1,160,000 to spend in a league with the following teams:
Orcs
Dwarves (currently the leader, with 6 wins and 1 draw and a deathroller, which I managed to foul into losing 1 MA, har)
Chaos (with a mino and several chaos warriors)
Undead (2 mummies)
Humans (with an ogre)
Lizardmen (nasty team, with a krox)
...and another team i've not met yet. As you can see, this is a very hitty league, so I moved to CD as one of the few teams not taken and for their mixture of raw power and big hats. The team lineup I generated is as stands:
Hashut's Favoured Spitroasts
3 Rerolls
0 Fan Factor
1 x Minotaur
2 x Bull Centaur
6 x Chaos Dwarf Blocker
3 x Hobgoblin
That is 950,000 spent on the players and 210,000 spent on the rerolls.
Comments?
Edit: This is a LRB 5 league, using what I assume are default rules across the board.

Get rid of the minotaur. He's a huge liability. Take an extra reroll and fill out with hobgobs.Entsuropi wrote:Hey all! First post >_>

I'm worried that in a league with so many big monsters, I'll need a big monster of my own just to hold my own on the scrimmage line. Infact, i'd be the only team without some kind of big monster (well, the undead don't but they have mummies). Are the big critters really so let down by their 1-6 chance of going stupid?

Yep, I'm one of those people that don't like playing with big-guys. Your Dwarves can take the hits ...
But if you do insist on keeping the Mino, rodders is right. The Mino and the RO are not ment for the LoS. You want these guys to blitz where the action really is (i.e. where the ball is) and cause mayhem there. Use the Mino's Horns with the blitz. Use Frenzy to push people in the crowd. Use the RO's Prehensile Tail to keep the ball carrier from running away. You don't want them to be dancing with an Orc lineman all game.

One other thing when using Mino and RO. Make sure your opponent can't trundle their own Big Guy over to tie yours up. Keep their Big Guy marked (I personally feel Chaos Dwarf Blockers are great at this job due to their AV9, Thick Skull and Block skills) and let yours roam around hitting things and crowd pushing if possible.
Really the only time a Mino should come into contact with another Big Guy is when it Blitzes him on the way past (to take advantage of it's horns) and doesn't stop. Then maybe the rest of the team gang foul.
Also don't stick the minotaurs neck out too far by itself, it's only AV8, make sure it's near at least one other player to reduce chances of it being ganged up on and torn down. Plus moving a supporting player next to the target before the mino swings increases your chances of getting a 3D block, especially if the mino is blitzing and able to use its horns.

My roster at Eurobowl was:
1 Mino
2 Bull Centaurs
6 Chaos Dwarves
3 Hobgoblins
2 Re-roll
FF1
I didn't have too much trouble playing with only 2 Re-rolls. All your Chaos Dwarves have Block and you don't want to spend Re-rolls on the Minotaur anyway.
The Mino was my MVP almast every game, don't dump him.
