Lizards got stomped - what to do for the next game?
Because of a lot of bad luck and not the most brilliant gameplay I'm left with 8 players after the first league game. Next game will be against a Chaosteam without any stat increases yet (3 CW, 6 BM) which is also down to nine players.
We play LRB 4.
I earned 70'000 and I dont know what to do with the money: hire an Apo or buy a skink?
Here's what's left of my team.
4 Saurus
4 Skinks
(one Saurus and one Skink are dead, one Skink got minus 1 ST and became an a-coach)

I would go for the apo too. You have to buy it in the future anyway and this way you can keep your team healthier earlier on. If you buy a skink you may have some better chances of winning and thus more chance on more winnings, but with 8 vs 9 you have some decent chances anyway. Good luck anyway, if it was for me I would have sacked the team and started over, it will be a big struggle the coming matches for you I think, although you'll get a bunch of handicap rolls when playing vs full teams.

A shame you dont have 10 k more, then the Saurus would be out of the question.
It's difficult. With the Skink you have a better chance at keeping your players alive, although the Apo can save an injury. Against unskilled Chaos I would go for the Skink. Then it will be 9-9, and although the Skinks have St2, they also have Dodge, which will keep them on their feet against non-Block and non-Tackle opponents.
With the extra Skink you will also have more chances on sacking the ball carrier, or even getting the ball before your opponent does. Then he will have to chase you, and hopefully make mistakes, so your guys wont be hit as much, and then wont need the Apo!
Good luck!

Do you still have the option of keeping the ST1 Skink? It's not going to help you for the next game, but could help you for the next ones.
Yes, he has ST1, so use him for the dirty work. He can become the kamikazi player of your team. Need to prevent the score, dodge in the cage and throw that 3 dice block he choses. If he dies doing it, who cares? You were going to retire him anyways. He's also your dedicated fouler. Keep him until you are back up to 11 or 12 players, then sack him.
He's an extra warm body until you get new players.
Just make sure that you don't gain SPPs with him. You will risk having him get the MVP though?
I once had a ST1 GR, who also had VLL (in LRB4) and sprint (got the -ST after those two skills). With the extra speed, I used him as my ball retriever in my backfield. And with LRB4 rules, he was my OTS threat. I never sacked him.
Your ST1 Skink's job on offense could be to pick-up the ball and hand-off to another Skink, who then moves behind the Saurus for protection.

Really? Why? Retiring a team and starting a new one is always an option rather than forcing a player into a position where they're not going to have any fun and they may leave the hobby/game for good.Killjoy wrote:Unfortunatly not an option.Joemanji wrote:Just start the team again ... it'll take too long to build them up again, and you'll be taking more casualties and losing games all the while. I agree with this. Sometimes you need to bite the bullet. If it really is not an option, try to negotiate with your league manager.Joemanji wrote:Just start the team again ... it'll take too long to build them up again, and you'll be taking more casualties and losing games all the while. If not buy an Apo and try to tough it out. Good luck though!

I just played the game against the chaos team and had a blast. It was great and endless fun. I'm not going to sack the team, for now at least not. The reward and pride with them will be even greater when I bring them back to full strength (somewhere in the very far future).
I took the Apo, and rightfully so. In the second last turn a Saurus got killed!!! Lucky me the Apo did his job.
the game started very funny though. First kickoff was the nasty fans throwing a rock. My skink got hit and was BH. So I started with seven players. LOL. Couldnt bring myself back on the chair for 5 minutes I was laughing so hard!
Lost the game 2:1 however. But it was very close at any time. No more injuries and enough income to buy another Saurus. I'm happy!
EDIT: I agree that I should have kept the ST 1 Skink though. But tough. He is coaching now.
