Demo games, Orcs vs. Humans

Post by Candle Jack »

As i work in an gamestore, I'd like to intrest some people to bloodbowl.
As for that i want to host some demo games with my Humans and my soon to be finished Orcs.
So I need two balanced teams who look fun.

Code: Select all

Humans: Orcs:
4 Blitzer 36k 4 BLitzer 32k
4 Lineman 20k 4 BOBs 32k
2 Catcher 14k 1 Thrower 7k
1 Thrower 7k 2 Goblins 8k
1 Ogre 14k 1 Troll 11k
3 RR 15k 3 RR 18k
4 FF 4k 2 FF 2k
             110k 110k
Are those fun to play against each other?

I'm not certain..... Are you Fun?

The teams are as "fun" as you make them mate!

I'd say this is true, but I think the gobbos, troll, and ogre add more uncertainty and extremes which you can use to your advantage for making it more 'fun'. I think some nicely painted classic minis would look good too.

Good Luck

I would suggest to use the teams that are provided in the box. That should be fun and easy for the people to understand the rules etc.

You can show the minis if you like to spark interest in the additional rules.

Good luck in finding new players!

I'd agree with Dendron. Showing people what you can do with what you get in the box seems sensible. Also it slightly reduces the number of rules they have to observe too (e.g. no TTM, no stupid rolls), so you can get on with hitting and the scoring.

Cheers

I'd take a second thrower on the human team, sacrificing some fanfactor to do so.

Other than that, pretty good.

hm, I would say, you should cut out the Ogre and Troll, it´s hard for newbies to deal with them. Take Another Goblin and FF for the Orcs and a thrower, lineman and ff for the humans. So you have a good reserve for player who gone down, but no overkill availible, additionally, no one has to remember some stupidy tests (some experienced people forget about that too ^^) And all players fit on the board perfect. As for the Box Teams... they aren´t very funny to play with, believe me. Without Goblins, the Orc Team is way to strong ^^

as was stated before, theyre as fun as you make them. id say go with the box teams, they highlight all the rules needed and its not hard to get your head around their motivatiov...blocker, big and hitty. blitzer - superstars (like david beckham), catcher, weedy and fast!, thrower....well there it is. lineman - cannon fodder.

theres no 'special' rules to deal with, and theres no particular strategy you need to make them effective.

also ive found that the humans are well capable of holding their own ;)

Thanks for those replys.
For sake of simplicity you're right, I drop the big guys going down to 100TR
Humans get 4th RR and FF drop to 3, Orks FF up to 3.
That way I have the possibility to show the impact of playing with less than 11 players in the end of a game.
The Box-Teams, they actually never crossed my mind, as they are rather not so nice to look upon. Or lets say especially the orc team is ugly as hell, imho.

Now with such teams. How to position them on the pitch.
I thought of maybe only 4 turns per half.

You should stay with 8 turns, but let the Human start. I think the human is best suited to make a touchdown fast, then the orc one has his chance. You don´t have to endure a whole game, but to make a touchdown in 4 turns is something, you won´t see often, especially for newbies. Of course, if you are playing one team, the newbie had to start :)

BTW I always play Skaven vs Necromants as the first game, when I try to get friends interrested. Skaven are a very easy beginner´s team with not many skills but good stats and Necro´s are not as hard as other teams, but you need your brain to make a touchdown against them. Okay, I love both teams, but that has nothing to do with it :>
