Upgrade for Orc Blitzer

Post by Buggrit »

I've got a Blodging, AG4, Fend, Sure Hands Blitzer who's just gained his penultimate upgrade (General/Strength) at 77 SPP's... question is what to give him? I'm thinking of going Strong Arm to make him a throwing/running machine on the pitch but I'm not entirely sure.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Kick-Off Return

The only thing he hasn't got it pace. This helps.

Mmm, kick-off return or guard. I'd imagine he is your main ball carrier, so when your cage's integrity is broken, his guard assist should help you block out those in his TZ. His AG and dodge should also help you get that assist where you need it.

Juggernaut - just to turn the block/skull into a pushback.

It's a normal skill roll, right? I would take kickoff return. If it was a double, I'd go sidestep.

Frenzy,
Mighty Blow,
Guard,

All good.

I'd look outside the box at
Wrestle,
Grab,
Pass Block,
Tackle,
Strip Ball,

Grab/Fend is a fun-sounding combo, but not too terribly powerful. It is effective if getting through Side Step is a challenge, and it will every once in awhile let you deny an extra square.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Fend and Sure Hands on a blitzer?! Ok.... :-?

Thick Skull to keep him on the field longer...?

You can never have enough Guard....

Who doesn't like Mighty Blow?

I think KoR is a good choice. Strong Arm is nearly as good though if you have someone to throw to. Do you?

No need to overcomplicate things. Mighty Blow or Guard are your best bet, with Tackle or Strip Ball also of use. I have a team with a MV 7, AG 4 blitzer and MV 7, AG 5 blitzer. You'd be amazed just how useful hitting skills like MB and Guard can be on agile players! :)

Got a Gobbo with Jump up and Catch who'd make a passable reciever  Overall I think I'll go with Strip Ball... the reason this guy got Sure hands was because I rarely field a thrower (especially on Defense) and needed somebody a little more reliable for ball handling with more speed than a lino.

Strip Ball will be very good together with AG4 and Sure Hands. Pop the ball loose, and get it as long as you can.
