Street Bowl Skaven team

Post by Vinz D. »

In about a month's time, I will be participating in a Street Bowl tournament (see the Subculture's Street Bowl Showdown topic in the Tournament Postings forum) with my Skaven team and to be honest, I have simply no clue as of where to begin putting it together.

Are rat ogres an option to consider?

Should I go for re-rolls?

Any help that can be given is HIGHLY appreciated.

If it's a resurrection tournament, load up with gutter runners and rerolls and forget the rat ogre.

Even dwarf teams with tackle will have a hard time catching and killing the speed merchants (sorry about bringing up the dwarf debate again).

LRB5 lineup:
4 x GR
1-2 x SV
2-3 x RR
Fill up with Linerats
1-2 FF

Play with the combinations of RRs and FF, but it's best to have at least 2 on the bench because of the lower armour values.

If you really want the GRs, you could go with

4 GR
2 Blitzrats
1 ThrowRat
5 Linerats
3 RR

This gives you one player for the bench. Not sure if i would keep a GR on the bench or not. Any Sakven players like to run 4 GRs on the field at one time?

Its a streetbowl tournament he is asking about, and you guys are posting BB rosters. In Streetbowl I don't think it would be a good idea to invest in the Ratogre, as he would be most of your money.

And maybe more importantly, double cost re-rolls and 600K max to spend on a team. However, only 7 players are fielded at a time.

So one could go with:

2 gutter runners (160K)
1 Throw-rat (70K)
4 line rats (250K)
2 re-rolls (200K)
3 cheering fans, or FF, etc

Or you could replace the Throw-rat with a Blitzer.

I would think twice about bringing a skaven team to the streets. Remember that all armours rolls are done with +1. Your squishy rats are even more squishy then normal, getting their armour bashed up on 6+.

But let us rat-lovers know how it went!

@Jural:
Wouldn't re-rolls be 120k each? :-?

@SteffenS:
Originally I planned to go with Goblins, but yeah... I am aware of the fact that my team can go 'squishy-squishy' quite fast.

I'm not so sure that would be for fun.

Well, now that I have read the rules of SB and understand the rules, I don't know that RR are worth twice as much. But I will say the first skill I'd take on my thrower would be LEADER! Never has it been more important!

Another roster would be
1 Rat Ogre (that prehensive tail is nice on a narrow field!)
1 Thrower
2 GR
4 Linerats (giving you a bench player)
0 RR
1 FF or bank it for an inducement

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I've been to the tournament today (ended up as fifth out of ten participants with a 2/1/2 result) and the team did rather well. Even though I didn't always use the Leader re-roll it is really a gift from the gods to have one at certain moments... Truely, the thrower is for this reason a MUST on my team in future tournaments.

Rat Ogre is still something I'm tempted to reconsider. On the one hand it gives me an option to beat S4 players (oh, how I dislike saurus players), but on the other hand I never seem to like those skull with block/pow results... Especially when that means my gutter runner gets beaten to pulp and the ball is quickly taken over by my opponent.

Still, the team did well enough and is definitely a good choice.

I played gobbo's and it really was fun. The Ball and chain and the chainsaw are very dangerous. The latter more for my own player than the opponent! Also hail mary pass on the bomber was a blast. (Yes we got a double after game 3). I used the bomber two times and got a 1 twice! )
