Some new Skills for my Orcs

Post by Der_Doodle »

Hi there,
my Orc team just made a great game agains some Highelves where i could manage to split all SPP gains (with abit of luck on CAS and MVP) that 5 of my players received a skill up.

So the team so far after 3 games is:

BoB - 4SPP
BoB - 0SPP
BoB - 2SPP
BoB - new skill
Blitzer - new Skill
Blitzer - new Skill
Blitzer - Side Step
Blitzer - new Skill
Troll - 4 SPP
Thrower - new Skill
Lineman - 0SPP

2 Rerolls
3 FF
Apo
110k Banked

The only skill up i received so far was Sidestep for one of the Blitzers after Game 2.
I intend to keep my money until i can pay the 3rd ReRoll and then buy a Goblin after it.

For skills:
I thought about Kick off Return for the Thrower to make my first receiving turn faster instead of block to make him tougher.
The Blocker either gets Block or Guard cant decide wich to take first.
For the 3 Blitzer atm i am thinking about 2 Guards and 1 other Skill (Strip Ball or Frenzy maybe? )

but i am more then open for any input.

Greetings Doodle

Frenzy on your 4th Blitzer (followed by Stand Firm).
Block & Leader on the Thrower, then KOR as a 3rd skill.
Block & Guard are both good first skills on BOBs. Maybe a mixture is best.

I like to give my first two BOBs Block, but I'd maybe do something different in this case and start with Guard, so he can protect both the linebacker on his side and the end on the opposite side, and the defense I'm recommending puts most of the weight on the end on one side and the inside LB on the other. Since you have a SS Blitzer to manage the corner, I'd back him up with a Frenzy Blitzer, and on the other side, take a Blitzer with Stand Firm and a Blitzer with Guard. Now your WZs are impenetrable. Put the BOB with Block at ILB on the same side as the SF/Guard guys, and use him to protect your Thrower (Leader, Block, Accurate... it's all good). Then invert the other side of your line, with the Side Step cornerback.

Code: Select all

Z=Blitzer, *=Side Step, while S=Stand Firm. Everything else should be apparent.
-- -- -- --|-- -- BG TR BO -- --|-- -- -- --
-- -- ZG --|-- BO -- -- -- -- LM|-- -- Z* --
-- ZS -- --|Th -- -- -- -- BO --|-- SF -- --
If you do that, give your Troll Guard first, and open with Block or SF on all the rest. The BOB Safety is awesome, but he can be #4 to skill. The main thing is that your opponent can open a lane if they can get him out of the way, but they can't get an assist unless they take out your line (good luck). As BOB #4, he should open with either Block or Stand Firm. Once you have 3 with Block or SF and one with Block skills again, you can make it this guy here, and give him Frenzy or Mighty Blow or Tackle or something.

I don't know if you like defensive Goblins. If you do, perhaps put Block on the Thrower and follow with Kick (buy a 2nd Thrower in that case). Then when you add a D-Gob, put him where the Thrower is, and move the Thrower up to the lino's spot. Yeah, he's exposed, but if your oppo is going to bite on your trap just to blitz a 90k AV8 guy with Block, all is well. And this way, should you kick to the right spot, you'll have a SS'er, a Frenzyer and a Thrower all on the ball.

Also, for your next match or two (until the Troll goes up again), you might want to stick him at end against any all-ST3 teams. Don't do this against bash.

Code: Select all

-- -- -- --|-- -- BG BO TR -- --|-- -- -- --
-- -- ZG --|-- BO -- -- -- -- Th|-- -- Z* --
-- ZS -- --|LM -- -- -- -- BO --|-- SF -- --
This guarantees the opponent will always hit the side without the Troll, which is why I switch the lino and Thrower. Maybe swapping the BOBs on the line, to put Guard-boy at the nose, might also be a good idea.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Guard on the BOB.

Depending on the rest of the league either one or two tackle on blitzers. The other blitzer(s) either mighty blow or guard. I'd save Frenzy for the sidestepper.

Thrower I'd take Block. KoR is a good choice too.

With only 2 RR, leader on the thrower might be good too...
But KOR is quite handy for getting the ball.

I'd take at least 1 blitzer with Frenzy, and 1 with strip ball.
