Double 5 on a hobgoblin.

Post by JJB »

This is my chaos dwarf team:
1 minotaur (multiple block - a waste of skill...)
1 bull centaur
6 chaos dwarves (one has mighty blow)
1 hobgoblin
1 hobgoblin with a normal skill (probably dirty player)
1 hobgoblin with +ag
1 hobgoblin with a double 5

3 rerolls, 60k treasury (next purchase will be a bull centaur), 7 fan factors.

TV 1340-50 (depending on what I give the hobgobbo)

I play in a shortish league of 12 games, then semis etc. (if I qualify of course).
I need to start winning my next games to qualify, and am facing a majority of bashy teams except for high elves and goblins.

I hesitate between:
- guard (I'm desperate for more guarders, since my CDs can't seem to develop)
- dodge (makes a decent ball carrier)
- catch (good combo with the +ag hobgoblin, ensuring I can handle the ball across the pitch without too many bad surprises)
- nerves of steel (ditto)
- +1ma (provides some speed, but I feel that I don't have enough players to follow him and cover him.)
- +1av (protects the hobgobbo, but I feel I ought to pick something less "passive")

What do you guys think?

Normal Hob: Wrestle

A great skill and no-one else is going to be taking it.

Double Hob: Leader or Guard

Guard is good as you identified. But Hobs are not the ideal carriers as they are easy to hurt.
CDs, Bulls and Minos tend to have good Double picks and thus you have no-one else to take Leader with.
But you might feel 3 rr are enough (although I don't on CDs).

did you reset the team at the end of league?

if yes, dodge, if not, AV

you lack block on your gobbos and also sure hands, for the gobbos with normal skill i will consider one of those

Thanks for the responses.

....however, a bull centaur without block is easier to take down than a hobgobbo with that skill in my experience.

Dodge is effective both in defence and offence...

More than mouvement on a breakable greenskin

Leader, Dodge or +AV would be standard options.

Now, if you want more fun, try Hail Mary Pass, or even Sneaky Git (give him Dirty Player next).

guard should always be the first skill on chaos dwarfs (except perhaps +ST) taking MB first hinders the team

I'd take dodge on the hobbo or leader

Guard, leader, or ignore the double.

Who are you and how long will you be playing?

Are you the guy to beat? Will the league go on awhile? If the answer to both is yes, take MA. If no to either, take Leader.
