Goblin(s) on an Orc team
...what am I missing here?
Why are they suggested in the starting line-up?
I have some friends telling me how great it is for Orc to be able to pick up legionaires. But I fail to get the point. TTM of course, but what other real purpose do these gobos have here?

Re: Goblin(s) on an Orc team
I firmly stand by my belief that if they were named Orc Catcher and not Goblin there would be 2 on every team Orc team.
Goblins are incredible positional players. I'd kill to have one on every team I have. A whole team of goblins(with two trolls) is another story.

Re: Goblin(s) on an Orc team
I ran an Orc "concept" team last season with 4 blitzers, 2 Throwers, 4 Linos and 4 Gobbos. It was a lot of fun, and they performed well. The Gobbos were the playmakers on this team.
One of our Orc coaches last season had a Thrower, Gurg Two Hands by name, who had +1AG, Strong Arm, Accurate. He was in the habit of throwing to a Gobbo in the end zone with Diving Catch, Catch. Combined with a running play, this was extremely hard to defend against.

Does that mean people in your league didn't have Block, Tackle, Mighty Blow players? They just rip gobbos to shreds. Even worse if they've PO and/or Frenzy too.
If I play against Orc teams I'll always block/blitz gobbos where I can because its the easiest player to remove from the pitch.

Re: Goblin(s) on an Orc team
Agreed - I do the same. But you can only blitz one player per turn. If there are two Gobbos within scoring distance, it's difficult to stop them both. Plus there have tended to be genetically enhanced Blitzers around to take the passes too.

Re: Goblin(s) on an Orc team
Look, I retreat my inital points and accept that there might be some room on a Orc team for them, but this is going a little overboard. 'Goblin' 'incredible and 'positional' should not be part of the same sentence. Let's just say that they can be decent in the right hands, but that is as far I would go.Pagan wrote: Goblins are incredible positional players. I'd kill to have one on every team I have. Re: Goblin(s) on an Orc team
After seeing Smeborg's Orc team I myself did a 'Low ST' Orc team. Gobbos are just fun! Never underestimate Stunty to get you out a problem!
Their greatest use on an Orc team is the variability they offer you. Yes there are better catchers / runners out there. But not on the Orc team.
As so often - the threat of something is often more effective than the player itself. Normally (when playing Orcs) you aint thinking - I need to leave a backfielder / what if they pass!) With a gobbo on the field they have too.
An targetting players works two ways - you think the gobbo is squishable. but I know you know that, and knowing what your opponent will do is have the battle.
Thats my 2p anyway!
