5+5 on rookie dark elf runner
On cyanide where my team is having a good run so far. Since I have only 1 other guarder I took Guard but was tempted by the +MA. Would you have taken something different?

Hi there,
always a bit of a tricky one when you roll a double....
I think you could of had +1 MA or +1 AV.
I might have been tempted by the +1 AV.
Two players with guard is great, but that means he will have to get in the mixer, but with an AV of 7 it will be tough.
Dodge and sprint would have tempted me.

I would have gone for the +MA.
Honestly, guard is one of the last skills I want on the runner. Yes, in general guard is great, but I just don't want the runner where he will be hit.
I think I would ignore regular doubles skills except for maybe strong arm if you want to develop a passer. There are just so many normal skills the runner will find useful: block, dodge, pass, NOS (not necessarily in that order).

+MA in a heartbeat. He's your burst scorer...
Guard isn't bad, I might have grabbed that if it were a lower doubles, as the DE team is always gonna need more guard, but MA is the win.
+AV would be a no-no. Yer just making him an expensive blitzer replacement on that path.

So far the guard has been great. On cyanide match making you face 95% orcs, chaos and dwarves and then you need every guard you can get. I'm sure he'll die soon enough but there's plenty of gold in the treasury.

Interesting. If you're getting into a block-war with Orcs, Dwarves and Chaos, I'll be surprised if this guy is around for a long time. Especially with such a high value on a AV7. Name him "Lucky", paint his armor green.

I would take the +1MA, on the basis that I actually use Runners as Runners...

It's been only three games so far. And the average opponent isn't so very experienced on cyanide. I hope he lives a few matches longer.Funksultan wrote:Interesting. I'm hardly getting into blocking wars (I think my last 5 games make for a grand total of 0 blocking cas, not counting crowd pushes), but when it's money time it's time to close in and place those guards where they count.

taking guard on runner types is very useful IMO, but only if you have another to actually be the ball carrier. Buy another runner and use your guarder to shadow him and help prevent against 2 dice blocks on your ball carrier. That way he stays out of trouble too.

I have a +AV Runner with Block, Dodge, Pass, NoS. I chose +AV becuse I don't think I will need more than MA7 on my DE team.
He has survived and I can use him as a "5th Blitzer" when I play defence.
I also have a AV9 Blitzer and thats awesome. It's a big diffrence between AV8 and AV9.
