Making your game plan revolve around Long Passes is a recipe for disaster for any team!

If you want to continue to talk Nurgle tactics, then maybe we can move this to ShreikBob's thread, or start another. I need this one to learn how to play the 'zons! :)

The main argument in Norse vs Amazons is skill choice. Every Amazon can choose Block as their first skill. Norse have a serious lack of Agility choices except for their Block/Dauntless..Catcher.

So Amazons get Blodge easier, while Norse have other tricks built into them.

Our Amazon player used a Run/Pass game fairly well. Blitzers opening up a path up the field wherever the opponent setup the weakest, Catcher/Linewoman in place upfield. Never forget you can run, Hand off, run more, Pass, run, score TD.

Amazons may not be the best team be cause of their 6MA and 7AV, but they can beat any team in the game. The skill and tactics of the two coaches is going to decide more than player abilities if you're playing Amazons.
You try any kind of passing game against a Nurgle team and you are playing right into their hands!

OK I am starting my own Zon team in a league next tuesday. thinking

4 x blitzers
2 x throwers
2x catchers
3 x lineswomen
4rr

Problems are no apoth and no twelfth player so may well get outnumbered fast. Could go 4+1+1+5 and then have an apoth still only 11 players but may be more survivable.
V 3 would replace the apoth with another linewoman.

HELP?

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.

You should be ok with that line-up. If you're facing other rookie teams, it's only CDs and Dwarves you need to worry about as the other teams wont have any tackle and they are unlikely to have more block than you (apart from Norse). That means that unless they want to turn over and get you down with a both down, it'll only be POWs that will knock you over.

I'd probably leave out both Throwers and you should then be able to get 3 extra linewomen for a 12 woman line up as you said. But I think Catchers are more useful than Throwers at this stage.

Apothecaries don't work for me, so I always prefer the extra player.

I'd start with:

4 Blitzers
9 Linewomen
3 rerolls
40K to either upgrade linewomen to Catchers/Throwers or save for an APO.

I like your starting lineup, but I'd drop one of the re-rolls for an apothecary to start... 3 re-rolls should be plenty, imo.

Should have listened. went with my first line up and had a catcher killed in turn 2. Did get a cas back 4 completions a touchdown and of course the MPV so a thrower skilled and I now have an apothecary but I am 70k down on that catcher. Ah well.

I think you may be at risk of playing them like elves. And that will not go well. They can dodge away and pass but not reliably.

At one point someone was asking about the lack of strength. As has been mentioned, Amazon linewomen are cheap and hard to knock down right from the start. Put one 50k player next to their 100+ k big guy and you'll get knocked down less than than a third of the time, while the rest of your team messes up theirs.

From what I've seen, and had done to me with Amazons, there are three simple truths:

1. Don't dodge with Amazons. The Dodge skill is there for defense only.
2. Play them like they were faster Dwarves, with a slow grinding drive (1-0 FTW).
3. Guard is king (and queen, and prince, and the whole royal family).

This is also the reason why you hear so many people complaining about the fact that playing versus Amazons played like this, is excruciatingly boring.

4 Blitzers
2 Catchers
6 Linewomen
3 Rerolls
Apoth.
1000k Exactly for 12 players.
After that get a couple more linewomen, or a thrower if you feel so inclined. Then reroll number 4.
