It only truly sucks vs. AV9. Otherwise, it's just a hazard. You're less likely to get the ball free than you are vs. AV8 blitzing with Strip Ball, even if you can't get better than 1/2d. You're also less likely to end your turn and much more likely to get an injury roll.
