Getting more specific this time: rookie Skaven vs rookie Necro, both teams field 11 players. Kick deep into the corner, shallow close to the LoS or other option (please explain)?
Case two: rookie Skaven vs rookie Necro, I'm down 2-3 players (as I often seem to be with Skaven). Would this change where you'd kick?
Thanks!

Re: Kicking shallow
The Skaven want to kick deep, because Nurgle has ball-control problems, and Nurgle want to kick shallow, because they want to bring Disturbing Presence into play.

Re: Kicking shallow
Necro is a tough one. It depends on their lineup and setup. If they set up normally (1 or 2 players deep) and started with 2 ghouls and 2 weres I'd kick it deep, put pressure and mark the handoff options.kiih wrote:Getting more specific this time: rookie Skaven vs rookie Necro, both teams field 11 players. If they have no ghouls or are set up to receive deep, kick short.
Depends how many turns they have to score. If they need to score fast, kick deep. If they have the whole half, do as before.Case two: rookie Skaven vs rookie Necro, I'm down 2-3 players (as I often seem to be with Skaven). Would this change where you'd kick?

Re: Kicking shallow
I always found that kicking shallow was a great tactic for takeaways, but it was highly dependant upon the rostered players I had available. As you are playing Skaven I cannot see how you could not use it to your advantage. I used to play this using Dark Elves against any opposition, I would kick shallow and have Side Step, Leap, Pass Block players on the Scrimmage line out wide. even if they had someone on the line and tired to scoop up the ball to pass it away I would swarm him under.
My best performer was a Witch who collected 3 interceptions in one match, she ran each in for scores too.

Oops. I don't know how I was thinking Nurgle and you were writing Necro. But yeah, kick deep against Necro too. Get the Zeds out of the fight. Necro can maneuver the ball ok, but they don't have very good deep caging ability.
