"Sucks to be" needs Vampire team build advice!

Post by Digger Goreman »

Not surprisingly, been getting roughed up in the ladder league.... Still, I have hopes for the Nosferatus and their "Lunchables"....

First, the team:

Thrall- Wrestle, 6spp
Thrall- Minus Strength, 0spp
Thrall- Fend (first to skill up and wish I'd taken Wrestle), 9spp
Thrall- 2spp
Thrall- 4spp
Thrall- (MNG), Minus Strength, 0spp
Thrall- 0spp
Thrall- Guard, 6spp
Thrall- Kick, 11 spp

Vampire- 0spp
Vampire- Minus Ma, Block, 11spp
Vampire- Block, 9spp
Vampire- 4spp

Edit to include Apothecary

Of course I had one other Thrall who died with his MVP attached for the last game....

The build question (not knowing who the next opponent might be): I have 130k in the bank and would like to increase rerolls to 5.... Or, I could buy 1-3 more thralls (sacking the two -Str weaklings)....

Suggestions and reasons?

Thanks!

Let's hope you have an apothecary already.
Vampire rerolls cost 140K don't they? I wouldn't save up for more, four should get you through. If they aren't, consider taking Pro on your Vamps.
Don't sack your thralls, they are perfect for the line.

I'd save up for all six vampires. And play them. It makes the opposition :puke:

I don't think you can afford two -ST thralls. In my limited experience, the team does not function with the thralls used just as cattle. The vamps just cannot do everything. With 4 vamps 5 rerolls isn't overkill.

Pro does look enticing, but basic skills are still better. They afford protection to the surprisingly fragile vamps and do wonders to their performance. The vamps must be able to block and dodge effectively for the surgical strikes they seem great at and which Hypno Gaze and ST and AG4 make possible. Pro won't get you there.

Max out your thralls before you consider getting more re-rolls.

Is that "max", as in build up to 12 (given the four vamps I have)...? Or, is it max to 12, getting rid of the two 2 St gimps...? Or max to 10, getting rid of the gimps, and building to 6 Vamps...? Or, max thralls on a sliding scale as I gradually afford more Vamps?

Or something else my adled mind isn't comprehending...?

You dont need any more vampires and you have enough re-rolls to get you by. What you dont have is a solid set of reserves. Vampire teams want to have at least 14 players and definately benefit from having all 16. The extra players allow you to take more risks and make sure you dont run out of players during a game. They also make the team more stable - a run of bad luck wont leave you stranded with a no hoper team.

I'd probably ditch the St2 thralls, they are pretty worthless.

I'm not a very experienced Vampire player but my team, Batshof Red Sucks have manged quit well. 11 wins, 3 ties and 11 loss! Best performance is when they got to final and lost to a human team, much becuse of the injuries on the team.

I started 3 vamps and loads of thralls buying in 5 rerolls and I also have leader on a player.

Today the team have 6 vampires (yes, it seems crazy BUT I wan't it to BE A VAMPIRE team) and 10 thralls, 5+1 rerolls, 3 assisitans and 3 cheerleaders @ 219 TV. Only a vamp have a niggling, thrall -MA, thrall -AG so no cripples.

When bloodlust works - having 6 ST4 AG4 players + one ST4 thrall its hard for the opponent to have the upper hand. When bloodlust kicks in - hahahahahaha, then its hard.
