Heavy set back in round one of league - DE's

Post by Hosko »

Where to from here?

Playing another starting team (Lizards) I have lost the runner and a blitzer from the following starting team, as well as a lineman taking a -AG hit. I managed a win but it seems a bit pricey really :o

The starting team was:

4 Blitzers
1 Runner
6 Linemen
2 Rerolls

I did get 70k for the winnings and I am thinking Apoth for sure. Try and keep my "valuable" players alive a bit longer if I can.

Cheers,
Hosko

Blitzer is a tough loss. The Runner not so much. Get an apothecary, save to replace the Blitzer. Keep the -AG lineman and put him on the line of scrimmage.

Ditto.

Although I'd save and replace the blitzer with a Witch Elf. . .

Hosko - if it's any consolation, my experienced DE team just had 3 players killed in their 23rd game against Amazons last night. The first 4 CAS were deaths, one was Apoth'd to MNG. A 1-skill Blitzer, a rookie Witch, and a 2-skill Lino (my Kicker). The 5th CAS was a BH, we held a little celebration. Amazingly, I won the game 1-0, my opponent failed catches in the end zone on turns 8 and 16. TV "helped" by 34 points...

All the best.

Mate, that's horrendous. I feel for you.

Up until last night I hadn't lost more than one player in a game before (even playing Gobbo's for two seasons), I put it down to one of those games. Looking at your game I shouldn't be to worried - killer dice last night seemed to be looking for DE blood.

So where does your team go from there? Do you have some skilled players to keep your team rolling along?

Thanks,
Hosko

Hosko - don't worry, the team still has experienced players, including a ST4 Witch with Wrestle, Sidestep (she was not playing in the killer match). The worry is that the team is now down to 11 players (10 for the next match), and that they are the holders of the Spike! (a trophy in our league that you get by beating the holder). Looks like they won't hold the Spike! for long.

Another worry is that the turnover of players is so high, that the team does not have as much Tackle and Wrestle as it ought to.

There is a longstanding tradition of botched surgery with this team, both this season and last. Last season saw many deaths Apoth'd to death, this season there have been some of these too, but mostly the deaths have been Apoth'd to permanent injury (a couple of -AG on experienced players, a -MA. a -AV). So when in this game a death was Apoth'd to MNG, it was a minor miracle in itself. One of the cripples died, so there are only 3 on the roster now - one way to solve the problem!

All the best.

I forgot to add that my above team is at least appropriately named: No Pain, No Gain. The team won their next game (against Chaos at similar TV) and are now back to 12 players, with a new Kicker.
