My friends and I have just finished our normal league, and are about to begin the Dungeon Bowl. We are using the dungeon bowl pdf printed up for 3rd ed but with our league teams instead of using the college of magic teams.
In the dungeon bowl, you start with 6 players in the dungeon, and can bring one player from the reserves into your endzone once per turn. Instead of bringing a player in you can move a player from the KO box to the reserves.
I have a 4 vamp roster with 5 RR's, no pro. 2 Block vamps, 1 dodge vamp. How many vamps do you think I should start with? How many thralls should I bring in before bringing in another vamp? In case the opposing team matters, my first match up is going to be against Ogres.
Some things to keep in mind:
1. If a vamp doesn't bite a thrall, he can come back into my endzone next turn since he goes to the reserves.
2. There is no half time, the game goes until one player scores. Once my re-rolls are used up, they're used up.

Re: How many Vamps in a dungeon
Well, if we're talking vamps in a dungeon, I would say no more than your have slaves...wait...dungeon bowl?
*ahem*
So....dungeonbowl. I would figure that you're going to be facing at least 4 ogres from the outset. He should have 2 snotlings to get the ball. You'll probably need to do the same with thralls, except that im guessing he has more snotlings than you do thralls. To be honest, im not sure I envy you your match up, as those ogres are going to be hard to shift on defence. Recovering your vamps is great, but lose a couple to teleporters and you're going to be in real trouble.
Personally, i'd run 3 of each to start, and not move the vamps more than I have to. Leave one near your endzone to defend (and not make blood lust rolls), and dump another somewhere alse strategic with a thrall. Use the remaining thralls to hunt the ball with the second block vamp.
That should limit your reroll burning while letting you be agressive early.
On the plus side, your opponent will lose his to bonehead.

Re: How many Vamps in a dungeon
I just watched the first match of the Dungeon Bowl being played, and it's brutal. Hypno Gaze looks like its going to be really important. Even so taking down those ogres in the tight corridors is going to be really difficult. I think the match is going to come down to his bonehead rolls and my hypno gaze rolls. Luckily I have way more re-rolls than he does.
