Amazon team facing Dwarves

Post by stormboy »

I am currently giving the Dwarf team 190 in inducements - so he is obviously going to get a deathroller.

Should I pick up my last blitzer and give him 280 in inducements and have a 13th player so I have a deeper roster and only end up giving up a bloodwieser babe in addition to the deathroller?

Or should I hope that the 12 girls on the team can out maneuver the Dwarves and hope to eliminate the roller with a quick drive?

Get the Blitzer, no question. You need the Block and the body more than an all-Thick-Skull team needs the Babe. In fact, you may see a card.

stormboy - I would not take the Deathroller in this situation, I would take either the Wizard, or a Saw + Bribe(s).

Oof. 280k=Flint+Wiz. Scary. I'm now uncertain. That's a big bad deal. When I was thinking about a Deathroller I didn't think it would matter as much.

Not that a Deathroller with Grab isn't scary too. Backfield chains with Tackle players are game-stoppers against Amazons. But not everybody knows how to do that, and it doesn't always work (though when it does work it usually means you get knocked down with MB). Amazons are extremely vulnerable to low-risk, low-investment complex chainpushes, because they aren't fast enough to defend from far back and still protect the ball, and because such actions generally negate Dodge de facto because the opponent is looking for pushes until he hits you with the last 3d hit and then a guy with Tackle. He needs a Runner with KOR, or you'll be able to stop it by keeping him from stacking the LOS with the 8-9 men needed (no, they don't all have to act; some are just there to keep the push from going off).

That means that the Grab DR and the Slayer (the two guys involved in the basic chain) are pretty much automatically getting 3d on every hit to set up the chain, and if you stay standing, there's a Longbeard ready to finish you off at 2d (possibly even setting up a second extra block on your safety), allowing for one whole wing to get wiped out, with the blocks themselves setting up an optimum midfield cage. It's far from automatic at (19x19x26) ÷ 27^3 = 9386/19,683 ~ 47.7% if your midfielders are set up in -2 row, but there's probably no price for failure; the odds of not falling down or TRRing are 1/27+(51/(216x27)), or 267/(216x27=2^3x3^6=729x8=5832) ~ 04.6%. The remaining 47.7% is mostly knockdown, probably all with MB because it's a DR and a Slayer, with a little nothing/wrestle thrown in. Note also that many/most of the successes also come with a knockdown.

The comparison is:
12 players, missing a Blitzer, vs. either Flint, a Wizard or a Deathroller,
or
13 players, all four Blitzers, vs. either (Flint + Wizard) or a Deathroller with a skill.

Tell me about your roster.

Cards are not allowed in that league.

I ended up taking the Blitzer - and she got a casualty in her first game! Sweet!

He ended up taking Grim Ironjaw and a Babe. Grim just frenzy pushed my linegirls all over the pitch and I was able to hold the tackle at bay and out maneuver him to a 2 to zero victory.

He had a guard linedwarf - and I had a guard linegirl - but I was able to keep most of his blocks down to 1 die - which helped in a huge way.

Overall I was able to ensure no longer term injuries and I am as prepared as possible against the next team in the league - the dreaded Chaos Dwarves with their 1540 team value. That is going to be the scariest matchup I have this season.

Congrats. Are you giving up or getting inducements for this match?
