Legend's last skill
So I just had my third player become a legend, and I am wondering what skill to take. I'm leaning towards Dauntless or Grab. PO should be considered too I suppose. My division is Vamps, Orcs, Zons, Norse, and Undead - so there are a number of ST4+ players.
My next opponent is a really good Vamp team (both the team and the coach actually). He has six Vamps - including 5 lvl 6 ones - including two ST5s.
My team:
FG: Block, Guard
FG: Block, Guard, Niggle
Wight: +AG, +AG, Guard, Dodge, MB, -AG
Wight: +AG, MB, Guard, Tackle, SF, [Normal Skill]
WW: Block, Dodge, MB, PO, SS, JU
WW: Block, Dodge, MB, Dauntless, Tackle
GH: Block, SS
GH: Wrestle, +AG, Tackle, SS, -MA
Z: Wrestle, Fend
Z: DP
Z: Wrestle
Zx3: Rookie
14 Players
4 RR

I think grab, he is a support piece so no to PO. Dauntless could help but is probably more situational. As a guarder he is going to be in tackle zones and so the option to reposition opponents will probably come up most often

Grab for me too.
Grab is a good combo with Guard and S-Firm. And with Tackle too, to blitz
those pesky blodge-sidesteppers that are a problem for frenzied wolfs.

Grab. Let the chains of fun commence!

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Re: Legend's last skill
My figuring is that if PO isn't the obvious choice it's because it doesn't fit your style. Don't break your own play-style in search of some mythical "skill quality" advantage. Some skills fit all styles, others less so. If you need the TZ, need to keep this guy on his feet, then don't take PO. If you like using this piece in the thick of the action and want him to do extra damage without getting counterblocked more than you want to use his Guard defensively at least a fair portion of the time, then maybe do take PO. If you face a lot of Side Step and/or you like to play games with chainpushes, consider Grab. If you're less into control-blocking and more interested in playing this guy in space or blocking for damage (something I doubt considering your build), don't take Grab.
Dauntless will get this guy killed. Don't do it! Have you considered Sure Hands? Is Strip a major concern in your format?
Both Grab and PO are very good against Vamps. Thralls and Vamps both are very POMBable, and Vamps often take Side Step. But far be it from me to advise on how to defeat my personal Achilles' Heel. (Vamps are the only team race I have never beaten, sometimes for getting outplayed, sometimes for hilarious luck, but I've never pulled a W against a Vampire team.)

Re: Legend's last skill
I tend away from PO because I have a PO piece already. The teams in my division will foul. In fact the Vamp team is coming into our next game with 16 players - partly because of the damage potential of my team, partially to try and foul my lvl7 players.
I can generally protect the WW - but it will get harder to protect 2 lvl7 players on the ground on a regular basis.
But it is true it eliminates players fast. The ClPoMB WW scored 7 CAS in one game...the last championship game in fact.
Also I have some concerns in that this guy handles the ball a fair amount of the time - I do try and keep the ghouls doing that...but with ag4 he is a receiving/hand off threat.
So I'm conflicted. Facing 2ST5 and 4ST4 players in our next game I can see the value of Dauntless. Grab will help with Frenzy setups...but my opponents normally avoid the sidelines already.

Chain games aren't really for winning the sidelines, though that's nice too. Mostly it's for dominating midfield and breaking cages.

I know this is likely way too late but I vote Juggernaut, you do not want Pile On as it does not mesh well with his other skills, Dauntless would be good if you used him as your main blitzer but that is not the role you have built him for, he is fighting in the centre of your advance as it were.
Why Juggernaut, firstly it ignores wrestle allowing you to take out pests while staying on your feet, and is needed you can blitz with him to force gaps in the opposition defence.

Actually, I second Juggernaut or Grab... If you can utilize themcrimsonsun wrote:Why Juggernaut, firstly it ignores wrestle allowing you to take out pests while staying on your feet, and is needed you can blitz with him to force gaps in the opposition defence.

My Necro team has a Grab Golem, and just lost my Juggernaut wight. Great pieces.
