I haven't played Lizards nor i played against them .. but i conssider them to be a good strong team, if you could spend your money on some of the big ones.

btw - greetings goes to T4zz, yet another spanish coach.

Longshot - it is 'Estoy de acuerdo'

Beating the lizards

Post by Kyrie »

Hi !

As I'm new to this forum, but not to BB itself, I'll try to explain what a Wood Elf Coach feels when his team is fully destroyed by a bunch of green lizards.

I have to note that lizards aren't as good as they seem, the only thing they have to win matches is the powerfull offensive line of Saurus, those minions will rip thru the defensive line of linemen without problems.

Once the hole is opened the lizard coach is free to launch the little skinks to win a match.

I've played Ancalagon and my team perished on their effort to break that line of Saurus, I had a trouble, I've got no WD at all, only a Treeman and 2 catchers....seeing this, Wood Elves had nothing to do with a green wall of muscles.

I also think that lizardmen are a good team to start playing BB, although I love that weak elves.

I have to remind you I played with dwarfs against you, was my friend who made such carnage with your team using lizzies. Woodies are one of the teams I fear, I'll tell you why, due it's movement they can reach and kill quite easily my skinks.

Be sure that, although lizzards are strong, aren't so good against one experienced coach, specially on first matches, when the team doesn't have more than 5 skinks.

Wood Elves break easy but they can score with hardly any players. I fear them, especially playing against a good coach and a developed team. Still think the key to Lizard long term success is the break tackle skill for those Sauruses.

Killing skinks

Those skinks are so swift to even my woodies, too much movement.
I've got say that skinks can run easily thru the elven lines 'cause linemen are too busy trying not to be smashed down by Saurus.

Maybe are skinks are cannon fodder, but are quite unexpensive if compared to woodies, aren`t they?

I didn' think of Woddies being cannon fodder so far...

maybe because they ARE expensive?

Anyway, also skinks shouldn't be treated like that from their own coach.. :pissed:

Skinks are the playmakers on the lizard side, not cannon fodder :pissed:
And all woodies are valuable, but i wouldnt like to face Lizzies with mine yet though, but if I did It would be a simple case of my war dancers going hell for leather after the skinks, when they are dead its game over Lizzies.(IMO)

Well, for me skinks are the part of the team wich is constantly changing, lots of them die and is better for the lizard coach to know it, so it's better to concentrate on developing saurus who are the backbone of the team.

few considerations:
1st, if you kill all my skinks (quite easy on first matches) the only thing I can do is destroy your team with my sauruses, just to taste vengeance and trying to make an easy match for the next coach you face. Think about it, because this can break your team for the rest of the league.
2nd, killing all the skinks is not easy, specially after a few matches when lizard team will have apo and maybe one or two spare skinks.
3rd I can still catch the ball from the floor rolling 5+ (33% is not much but...) and taking it from my saurus hands can be hard

I don't think Skinks are the play makers, they come and go too quickly for that. Mobile Sauruses dictate the strategy, the Skinks act as the tools to score and get the glory. The hard work is done by the rest.

One year and few days passed since I wrote first post on this topic... at the end I'm quite happy with lizards results but has not been easy.
The results:
1st league: ended 17 of 20, didn't clasify because I lost 3 of 5 matches. 3rd edition with some house rules (some unoficial stars)
1st weekend championship: sent out at quarters. 3rd edition, they allowed up to 4 starplayers repeated (2 zugs, morgs or luthors on one team) 32 coaches.
2nd league: still has not ended (3 matches lost, 1 tie, 9 wins) 2k1 and LRB used.
2nd Weekend championship: Winner. 22 coches. LRB rules.

I played some more matches and minileagues but those I said were the most important. As I said I'm happy with my lizards... I need a scaly smily to show it!! :D
