Well gosh, DD, why don't we just make every team like every other team? That way no team has anything any other team doesn't, and no one can complain about it?
All the slow teams, don't have any fast people which seems kind of unfair, all the strength teams don't have high agility people, which seems kind of unfair, and all the speed teams don't have many hard hitters or high armor, which seems kind of unfair, and Elf and Dwarf teams don't have any cheap people, which is kind of unfair... or is it?
Well alright, so a beastman and chaos warrior of yours gets a star player roll. Say you're lucky, and get those 2 players eligible for a roll in the first game. You scored two touchdowns with one guy, and the other had a completion and an MVP or something... you roll doubles with both of them. It's a 1/36 chance of happening, but I'll give it to you...
Now, what exceptionally unfair, game-breaking physical trait do you pick up? If any? Well, if you rolled double 6 or double 5 (happens 1/3rd of the time you roll doubles) maybe you'd take an increase of strength or movement instead? Ok, so say you roll double something else...
Would you take two heads? You could take dodge instead... Would you take extra arm? You could take catch instead... What about prehensile tail? Or you could take tackle or diving tackle. Claw or Razor Sharp Claws? You could take Mighty Blow. Big Hand? Sure hands. Spikes or Thick Skull to help prevent injury? Or maybe you'd rather take Dodge to do that? Or, since you were lucky enough to roll doubles, you could take Stand Firm, which most people are big fans of, or Frenzy, Dauntless, Leader, or Nerves of Steel.... but wait, everyone has players that can access those non-physical skills/traits that I listed, on a doubles roll, so why would you take those, when you have access to your game-breaking physical traits...?
Hmm...

I think you have completely missed the point. It is characteristic of Chaos to have a small chance of bad luck should the Coach choose to take a physical mutation, similarly the player may get a very useful addition. That is what should be built in. If bad luck occurs the player gets retired, no worse than the current aging rule. The point is its a gamble, but then that is the nature of Chaos, or should be.
If your going to get all hot under the collar about it don't bother replying.

As far as I could see, DD, you made 3 points....
As for being required for game balance, like I said, the access to the physical traits is already factored into cost and team balance, and the available skills to them are generally comparable to other skills that they could've chosen on a doubles roll anyway.
If you're now making a new suggestion that the detrimental chance of taking a physical mutation replace the aging roll for Chaos, then it's simply a flavor rule change, and not one of balance, more suited for house rules than an official change.
I addressed this already.DeputyDawg wrote:Chaos have too good an advantage IMO.

If you think so, re-write a set of house rules. It's a realistic or RP'ing aspect of Chaos that isn't currently part of the official rules. Similiarly, Chaos demons aren't part of the official rules, though they are part of some leagues house rules.DeputyDawg wrote:To even the advantage up they should run the risk of damage, it is Chaos afterall, unpredictable and uncaring.

Balance. The fact that they start with NO skills on the team (I know beasts get horns, but that's only 1 guy a turn) means that if they only got ST and Gen skills, they'd be worse than orcs in every way (who have 4 ST4 players, who have skill blitzers, and can actually get THROWERS!.DeputyDawg wrote:But why should Chaos have access to a load more skills than most?
How do they make up for this? Mutations. Sure, mutations are better than most normal skills as is. But you have to roll doubles to get them, and often times that means that those poor beastmen and warriors, who generally hit ppl more often than not, have to go even LONGER without block.
Leave mutations alone.

By the way...
Why is this argument going on in a thread called "Anti Dark Elf tactics"?
How does this have ANYTHING to do with dark elves?

Well, I agree with Most of what you said DD
Anyway, I just played against the 2nd ranked player in the legue (I was 5th) who happens to be Skaven (OMG, they get physical as well! AAAAAAAAAGH!!!
) Beat him 2-1, scored 2 casulties, got +1FF and bought a re-roll with the winnings (with 40k left in the bank)
I am now ranked 3rd
The best thing about Chaos is killing...!

You only play Chaos don't you BG? I liked some of the variety of unofficial teams you could get. I played with a Marauder team until quite recently and I picked up some really good skills, but I never felt part of them so I swapped them. The other team I liked the look of was the Slaanesh team. Pink Horrors, look great on a BB pitch. Laters DD.

I had a pretty good demon team using the old rules in an online league several years ago, I think they only lost one game (the last one they played before the league went away)DeputyDawg wrote:You only play Chaos don't you BG?
