well.........
- i didn't "slag it off", i pointed out it was quite easy to obtain the required chain push
- i have tried it out and managed without much difficulty to push someone 3 squares into the field, in the TZ of two of the players in one branch of the A. that means that a MA8/AG5 is easily out of there, and that AG4 is only 3+ 3+ 2+ with a dodge/team RR.

the first blitz has to come from behind. Ians defense is the best to use against a OTS. You need to dodge a lot to get in the position to get to blitz.

I don't see an "easy" way in there!

Are you looking at it upside down? the XXX at the top is the LOS.

The A frame has some big strengths.

1) You can't isolate one defender from the rest to push him around
2) Assists are awkward if you have guards and/or strength.
3) More blocks are required in your own half to push the defender around.
4) Central congestion probably means more and/or harder dodges than everyone back.

Realistically the only pefect defence relies on upbeatable strength, stand firm or sidestep.

Um, anybody care to email a game file where they pull off a 1-turn TD with chain-pushing (without MV10 + Sprint or the like) to rkettune@student.oulu.fi ? I'd like to see how it's done, and being a bit of a retard  , the graphs aren't all that helpful.

do i really have to answer to that ? i mean, it's ok to defend your opinion of this def, which is not bad. but it's the second time you imply i can't break it. i did, do you want a JBB Replay ? you need 2 Guard at most, and you can even do that without, through 1D blocks.

I recently thought about how many possibilities there were to score in one turn (except players with MA 11 or sprint).
Do you know any cunning tricks to score if your max MA is 10 or lower?
Thx a lot!
MA 8 suffices (or MA 7 with Frenzy), assuming you have enough players and there's at least one non-SF/SS opposing player on the LoS.

seeing how i made the pushes, the opponent can have guard on every player, i can still do it.

- he has Guard i don't: i can
- we both have Guards: even easier

Thanks to MixX's Play Creator, I've got a page up showing a one-turner done with rookie dwarves.

Angelfire (where MixX's playcreator is hosted) a bit flaky, so you may need to copy the link and paste it into a new window to avoid the dreaded "About Angelfire" page. When I get around to it, I'll just take screenshots and make images showing the moves or something.

Ok. IF I get around to it...

{ edit: yeah, I probably could have set it up better, but I was just making it up as I went along and couldn't properly wrap my brain around what I could do to reduce the GFIs. Good catch, but I can't bear the thought of redoing the whole thing. Maybe I'll get that fixed if I use screen shots. Then start adding other races for kicks. }

Not too bad.

But if you simply replaced Blitzers 5 and 6 with Longbeards 8 and 9 you wouldn't need those 2 superfluous Extra-GFIs! :D

Gus - please demonstrate a tougher defence then.

I never claim its impossible to break, just that its harder than any alternative (assuming variation in skills for either team).

and where did _i_ claim i knew a better one ?

actually, which part of
it's ok to defend your opinion of this def, which is not bad.
did you miss ?

you presented it as the ultimate defense, it is not. it is a good defense, and perhaps one of the best available, but as i said, it is very possible to go through it. in some situations it might be better to have a tackling curtain in the backfield, in some others to try and pocket the OTS-to-be, etc.

AFAIK the only perfect defence against chain push scores is stand firm or sidestep on the LOS.

So, without special skills, I believe that the A frame defence is the best any team can do.

Please prove me wrong. I've love to have something even better to defend with.
