Well if he's recieving the mummies won't necessarily be sweepers, per se, but there is something to be said for keeping two mummies in the backfield when woodelves are kicking to you. In fact, most opponents I've played who were used to my blitzkreig defensive style with woodies and skaven kept a strong reserve to form an early pocket.
"Kick deep" makes assumptions about your opponent. "Kick to where the mummies aren't" addresses what you're actually trying to achieve.

Well well, I think I'll be ready for the big game, thanks to you guys!
My plan :
- I buy a wizard
- If I win the coin toss I kick
- I kick as far as possible from his mummies, which probably means deep
- I rush 3 or 4 fast players in direction of the ball
- I dodge my players out of his range
- If he succeed in making his cage, I play smart and safe until he's two turns from a touchdown then blow his cage with a fireball and score (which shouldn't leave him with more than 2 or 3 turns for another td)
- at this point he'll have two choice, either try to score a risky td or try to kick the shit out of my team (that's probably what he'll try)
- if he goes for it (which should be visible in his formation ... and facial expression
) I play defensive, I should be able to get the ball since his team isn't designed for such play
- if he places an agressive setup, I evaluate if a td is possible (with almost no risk), if it is I rush my Wardancers backfield to get the ball (since they can leap out of a messy situation), if it isn't, I just play coward until the end of the half
- When I receive, I try to score as late as possible (if I'm leading 2-0 at this point, I might play very defensive), if it isn't possible, well, a quick td is better than half your team dead and no td at all!
- then I kick the ball deep to make sure he'll have to travel the whole field to score.
- I do as I did for all my other kicks
If everything goes well, I won 3-0 with a few casualties if at all.
Wow ... wood elves are definitely pussies

yeah totally agree, thats what I would practise. score as much and pressure them and make them feel the pain - at 3-0 up they will make more mistakes than just 1-0Marcus wrote: - Woodelves shouldn't make game plans around scoring within specific timeframes. lol, I'm screwed! I just learned that wizards weren't allowed in my league. I also learned that my opponent is apparently far more experienced than I thought and that he played intensivly two teams in his career : Wood Elves and Khemri ... which means he masters his team ... and knows better than I how to play MY team!
Also, he generally doesn't use a cage, he likes to tear appart the whole opponent team before caring about a touchdown, if at all.
Conclusion : my chances are slimmer than ever hehe!
I'll just go sacrifice some goats, it's the better I can do for now!

Nope, you actually have better chances. There's hardly anything you can do against a cage of mummies.Coach Alex wrote:lol, I'm screwed! I just learned that wizards weren't allowed in my league. But when there's none, you're not screwed any longer if he manages to pick up the ball.
Typically, an opponent with a hard hitting team who starts playing by focusing on tearing apart the opponent definitely does not have an as good grip on the ball as one who focuses on the ball (how surprising!?!?

I kinda have a hard time believing this khemri guy is playing for carnage and still topping the league. He's either a genius or insanely lucky or the rest of the league isn't really very good...JJB wrote:Nope, you actually have better chances. Again. And again. And you'll win.

I'd say both a genius and a newbie league. Actually, there are two really experienced coaches, a somehow experienced one, and the rest are newbies (including me). And he's not exactly topping the league, right now I'm the leader and he's second ex-aequo with the Skaven team ... since the Skavens defeated him last week-end. It might mean I have some chances since it's the only team that defeated him and they did it twice.TuernRedvenom wrote:I kinda have a hard time believing this khemri guy is playing for carnage and still topping the league. But eh, I've never seen him play against fast/agile teams so I'm only relying on others' opinion. They all say it hurts, mostly

wood elves generally aren't equipped for stalling scores. it's not a stress they're designed to handle. Occasionally you can hold on for a turn or two near the end of the game to give an opponent less time to counter. VERY RARELY.
