That's good news for you, isn't it
!
Do you know his setup? Is it bashy with (e.g. 4 Blitzers + Ogre) or flashy (e.g. lotsa Catchers). Depending on this you should choose your Mercenary. If he is Bashy you could induce a Troll or Black Orc with Guard, if he has some Catchers a Blitzer with Tackle or Frenzy should be the better choice.
At least you're not facing 4 ST5/Mighty Blow Mummies
.
Cheers

Definitely a lucky break.
And I agree with Tante Kaeth re: inducements but would edge towards Frenzy as he will, at most, have only four Dodge players all of which will be faster than your Blitzer.
Might as well give him a skill that's useful against every player.

I hate seeing SPPs wasted on Mercenaries and Journeymen. These are some of the things I like least about LRB5. You thought you were behind before down a blitzer and bob? Play a game that does nothing to advance the players you have left and go into your 3rd game with a roster that's still weaker than a rookie roster. I'm sure you'll be glad you did.
That's not hardcore. It's just stupid.

It's what you get for bringing shame on the Orky name. Take your hits, man, give up your MVP to a Merc/Journeyman, and accept that this is your punishment for not being Orky enough last time around.

What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.

But if you win, then it's worth it, isn't it? I think it is anyway. Afterall, trophies aren't won by who has the most SPPs. It's who has the most wins.Snew wrote:I hate seeing SPPs wasted on Mercenaries and Journeymen. These are some of the things I like least about LRB5. Who said anything about a bunch of journeys and mercs? I've never seen someone run more than one merc in a game. More than one journeman, yes, but that's out of necessity. You can't help that. Playing one merc isn't going to matter that much down the line.Snew wrote:Maybe but how competetive is your team going to be later in the season? No. I think it's better, for me anyway, to win with my team. Not with a bunch of journeymen and mercenaries.

Hi there,
I finally had my second league game with my battered orc team against a TV100 Human Team. I induced a Black Orc blocker with guard for my LOS and stuck him up there with my journeyman lineman. The game was an absolute bloodbath. While I had 1 player sent off, and one journeyman lineman badly hurt his team faired rather poorly.
His team was 4x blitzer, 4xlineman, 2xthrower, 2xcatcher.
by the end of it he had
1 blitzer - dead
1 blitzer - miss next game
1 line man -1ST
1 line man -1 AG
and a further 4 players badly hurt.
and guess what.
I STILL ONLY MANAGED A DRAW!!
anyway, I have got a skill upgrade for my Black Orc blocker.
He rolled a 10 (non double) What should i get?
Im thinking a +1 AV might be useful for this fella, but getting him up to MV 5 is also quite appealing.
I also have 120K to spend.
Currently my team consists of
1 BoB
4 Blitzers
1 thrower
2 Lineman
1 Goblin
2 Journeyman lineman.
Im thinking a troll or a BoB and an Apoc.
Thoughts?

Apo first. With the 70k in your bank, you can purchase a Black Orc after the next game for sure.
Skill decision: That's a hard one. BOB's need Block badly, but: +1MA, is a really good choices for a long term team development. I don't recommed AV10, the gain compared to AV9 is minimal.
Take Block or +1MA, if you're going to play 10 or more games with the team, it should be +1MA.

I'd agree with Meradanis on skill selection. +MA on a BOB is good, +AV not so much. Block is good: Guard is better, but in your condition, you're better off getting something to help you develop, especially if you have at least 7 or 8 games to go.

Who's your opponent? If you can induce a BOB Merc w/Guard, you'll do well to get the Apoth and buy a BOB next week. If you can't, BOBs = numerical superiority, and numerical superiority = win. In that case, get the BOB now and the Apoth next week.
You're Orcs. Bad stuff happens, but you can't run around in fear of it.
For the +MA on a BOB, 1) it's great once the guy has Block, as it makes a great blitzer, and 2) you will get ZERO out of it until you have at least 3 other BOB/Troll linemen AND he gets to 16, which may take a long time.
