Vs. ST3, one Guard guy becomes your Nose Tackle. Vs. higher ST, he becomes a Dont-Blitz-Me Linebacker (generally an outside man, either in or next to the WZ, depending on how you set up). Two lets you go symmetrical on the Linebacker spot, so your opponent can't just go the other way, but even if they do, having a Guard guy on the weakside to assist the Corner blitz can make it easier to pop the ball open before the offensive formation really takes shape.

You know, that is a fair argument for Guard on a Catcher... not that I think you should. Whatever you do, don't put him on the nose!

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

All that american football slang makes me dizzy :P linebacker ?? Anyway, I see your points but I would still really consider Guard on a mobile player like a HE catcher, I guess its the woodelf in me, and I would just play him like he is an av 7 guard player and not an av8.
