passing and catching is another 2 extra rolls to drop the ball after you have picked it up
certainly not a fan of passing the ball into a cage, could end up anywhere

Passing is sometimes neccesary to play the game. You can't always run with the ball, especially if the ball is kicked deep and the opposing team is quick and already in your half threatening the ball retreiver.
Being able to pass it up field, even if it's not caught, is very useful. Just getting it into one of your Tackle Zones nearer the LOS and away from the ball sackers.
So yeah, I'd take Pass. Leave the team reroll for the pickup, catch or whatever comes later.

2 extra rolls: one 3/4 or 8/9 roll buys you a turn (hand-off or catch) and targets your TD to a player who needs the 3 SPP, one >5/6 or 8/9 roll buys you an SPP on your dedicated passer, who starts with a skill deficit and really wants a couple of G skills. Sounds good to me, like somewhere around 1/3 or 1/4 of an extra roll per game. Not like you need 5 TRR just for blocking, and not like you have to know you're throwing before you know if you have a TRR to use.
