Personal choice. I want my 6 chaos dwarves, 2 bull centaurs and 3 rerolls before I would go for the Minotaur. I admit he is better at the start that where joemanji's team is at. Still marginal though. If he had mutation access as a regular skill like the Chaos one does, then I could see a bit more value. Your example requires luck with the mutations. I would prefer blitzing with my claw / mighty blow / piling on dwarf who always works and is more efficient at killing then a rookie minotaur.DoubleSkulls wrote:Really? That seems a bit harsh. Later on more teams can either ignore him thanks to blodge or take him down and out too easily. But early on against teams ill equipped to deal with a S5 frenzy monster (and there are plenty) I can see him being fairly useful. Get lucky with doubles (Block/Claw or Tentacles) and he becomes a valuable asset IMO.atropabelladonna wrote:I feel Minotaurs are useless for a chaos dwarf team at any point of its development.

Bloody Minotaur!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's turn 5, and my opponent ignores my cage in favour of kills and fouls. So I have the chance to get my Minotaur back into the action. So he makes the 2+ blitz roll. But he needs a GFI for the block ... rolls a 1. Oh well, that can happen. I use a reroll, and it works ... passes second time. So that is a 3D block ... skull, skull, push. Oh.
That's another GFI then ... fails.

Minotaur = turnover machine.
I'm very proud of my converted BB minotaur model based off an old Citadel Minotaur Lord. http://www.solegends.com/citcat912/c202 ... rlords.htm (middle row, right-side) I just can't justify him past 1500TV. Chaos Dwarf blockers are usually much better after two skills or so.
He is a block-magnet though. Inexperienced coaches tend to concentrate too much on knocking him down. He's usually good as a distraction for 5-8 games or so of the season. After that, if I have a developed CD I'll fire him. By then, the new coaches in the league usually have learned to just mark him with a player and ignore him.

I have to disagree with this. Then every team would have Ogres with a few Krox or Trolls thrown in. The teams would look too similar.Joemanji wrote:We should still have a choice of big guys on all teams.
Having Minos (or Rat Ogres or Beasts of Nurgle, etc.) helps give the different teams their individual flavor. If we could just pick the best pieces for every team, they'd all be the same and BB would just be a dice roll-off.
I have a few teams to get to before I take a crack at Chaos Dwarves but, when I do, I will have a Minotaur midway through my first season. And my opponents will be crushed beneath his cloven fury!

Sorry, Joe, but:
a) That roll would have failed for any player.
b) DON'T TAKE EXTRANEOUS ACTIONS WHEN YOU CAN SCORE!
c) As a rule, try not to roll dice with Loners while you could still spend a TRR on another player's action. There are some exceptions, but this doesn't sound like one.

Sorry Matt but ... I would have scored anyway (and did), it was the last action of my turn and I had as many TRR as turns left.

Re: How to use a Minotaur on a developed Chaos Dwarf team
An interesting disscusion to be sure. I have hired a Mino on my CD team in the thunderbowl leauge and I'm excited about having him as we go into the playoffs. He is a late addition to my team and I got him to help deal with the bash heavy playoff team we have to face. I think I'll use him on the D line against the more agile teams and keep him near the middle of the pitch vs the bash teams. I'll let you know how it goes in the playoffs on the 9th of January.S.

Re: How to use a Minotaur on a developed Chaos Dwarf team
As a noob to the game I picked a Minotaur for the joy of bashyness (he's all glittery and stuff).
I agree with other posts, the easy access to Mutations is really important, and makes the CD version not the best out there.
I find has his on days, and his off days. However he's become the Casualty king of my league allowing me to clear the field of many opponents. I've chosen in order Juggernaut, Claws (on doubles), and Piling On.
I got him SPP's not by hoping for the MVP roll or pushing him into the serious fray that my dwarfs could handle, instead I used him as the pitch bully. If a little guy was floating around or came too close I'd use the Minotaur to ruin the guy and get Casualties. Worked like a charm. Now he's buffed enough to work over any AV value and put the hurt on

Good luck with him.

Re: How to use a Minotaur on a developed Chaos Dwarf team
I have played 5 games with my Minotaur and while he's clearly not the best fit for the team over all (I want my troll back) he is still usefull againsed bashire teams with high end ST like Orcs and Chaos. I plaed in the playoffs with him and he was great againsed Orks but I didn't start him and he didn't make the pitch much againsed a dark elf team. I want to address the bloat issue with the Mino too, I don't think bloat is am issue with the CD. Between the cheap linemen and the stars that really arn't that great as far as Value goes I think I want to be developing my own player and get lucky, with a doubles. That being said ANY double an this guy brings block even a ST+1. Gaurd next for me.S.

Re: How to use a Minotaur on a developed Chaos Dwarf team
Good topic,
I truely believe in BG's in the early stages of a teams development. But if your team is already over the 175 TV range they really are not worth it.
As one of the previous posts said, most players will dodge away or knock them down/out fairly easily.
They are worth it if they have developed with your team and have gained 1 or more double skills (ie.block).
my 2 cents
