Would it not be better used to knock down the DR, then to fould him?

I am slowly being dissuaded from the extra Apoth and Babe, and inclined towards a variation of option 1b): Buy Blitzer back and Reroll #4, then use inducements to get Varagh, and Wizard. I think Varagh would be usefull with his S4, MA6, Block and MB, more so than buying a stock BoB.

Is having 13 Roster players + Star Player so much more important than having 12 Roster Players + Star Player? For this one game (after that I am back to 13 roster players).
You really shouldn't worry too much about the Death Roller. It'll be there for one drive and in the end it hits as hard as any other dwarf with MB. I think you should aim to deal with it like you would deal with any other durable big guy and ignore it as much as possible. Don't stack all your guys to get a 2-d block on it and then foul it. Give it one lineman or BOB to play with.

And, as mentioned, the wizard is so good against dwarves because they can't get around caging due to their slow speed. Hit the cage with a fireball at a good opportunity and you're very likely to get a 2-d block on the ball carrier and at least swamp him enough to get another shot next turn if you're unable to get a knock down. Don't do it the first opportunity you get and with luck the threat of the fireball will make your opponent so nervous that he tries to scrimp on caging and you get at him another way.

Ok that clears it up, wasn't sure if you were playing the rules correctly or not ;]

I agree with everyone else though that a wizard is the best choice

Absolutely not. Its a complete waste of a wizard and much more likely to get you sent off than him. The key against DR is to end the drive quicly and get him sent off.

Knocking down half a cage ought to give you the opportunity to either sack the ball carrier if he's still standing or sneak in and grab a loose ball.

Varag is pretty good value and the strength will help. Having him might help protect your team since he'll get a lot of attention.
