Sounds like my experiences at Waterbowl...Chaos followed by Halflings and later Ogres.
SOUNDS easy enough...but 4 Block CWs in the hands of very experienced mr Schmee was nasty, only having a leader reroll against a team with Bertha Bigtits and two trees and then Leipzigers hyper-intelligent Ogres was an absolute nightmare.

Sodom, sorry I doubted you. Maybe you could grab a lift to Hartlepool with some of our southern travelling friends? Val/Rycos/Gegg etc.?

sure hands on a ogre does sound nasty, and you have the muscle to tie up other big guys and the snots can tie up other threats. Nothing would stop it.

You could try and bring Morg n' thorg lol

From my limited Ogre experience (6 games at the Waterbowl), Strong Arm (10k) was great and so was +1 AG (80k). Definitely take 2 x Break Tackle (40k) as the mobility is really useful.

I'd probably go for something like:

1 x S Arm (10k)
1 x +1 AG (80k)
2 x B Tackle (40k)
1 x Block (80k)
1 x Grab (10k)

All skills on the Ogres

Would you take accurate/catch on a pair of undead ghouls to improve your chances at the passing game? Of course not because block will be effective in a vastly wider range of circumstances.

IMO getting too carried away with gimmicks will surely only come to grief, even with Tier 3 teams. Ogres biggest advantage is the wall of St5 MB meat. Make that more reliable and they could have some success.
Guess who didn't win a single game at the weekend? :P

Oh, I wasn't making a comment on whether he could do it, my only worry was why anyone would bother?!

And you can't legislate for Jim. ;)

Of course it was worth bothering!

I was very happy wearing my under-crown of fez on the train home. Little did the minions around me know... :)

Hopefully it's not too late to kick in, but Aahz has a team with 4 Ogres (all Break Tackle) and 12 Snotlings (4x Diving Tackle) and threatening the whole damned Ladder League! We'll see how it all plays out, but he tends to hand off to a BT Ogre and dares you to remove the ball before he scores.... He'll blitz you, or use break tackle (on offense) and that damned diving tackle/sidestep combo (on a snotling) is tres irritating... possibly, even to elves....

edit: Never mind... I see the Monkey Bowl post, under this one....

I didn't get to play, but I'm considering this for Toy Soldier (front-loaded skill packages as per Waterbowl Weekender):

5 ogres (all with break tackle)
9 snots (one leader)
apoth
3RR (+1)

You get to veto skills/stat increases if your opponent is in a higher tier. Could work well...

Pippy wrote:I think I agree that 80k for block might be a tad expensive. Leader could be a better all-round option for the team.

Why buy leader for 80K when a reroll only costs 70K themselves.... Unless the skills are on top of the 140K team cost and not part of it?

Edit: Whoops, nevermind, I ready the format wrong.
