Re: Undead Skellies: Ever worth it?
Whenever someone goes in my Dead & Injured box, it tends to be a Skeleton. That AV7 makes them crunchier than even a human lineman, for crying out loud.
Having said that, I have Zombies on the front line to hit things and be hit by them, while the extra movement point of the Skeletons is invaluable when you're getting a cage rumbling down the field at top speed (which isn't very fast, but I'd like to be going faster than 4 squares a turn).

Re: Undead Skellies: Ever worth it?
If I'm doing the math right (dubious) then:
Skeleton 7 Av
8+ to break armor (41.67% chance)
9+ to remove from field (27.78% chance)
11.58% chance to at least KO....
Zombie 8 Av
9+ to break armor (27.78% chance)
8+ to remove from field (41.67% chance)
11.58% chance to at least KO....
Seems a toss up... with the skellie losing the armor battle while being harder to remove once said battle is lost....
Is the +1 Mv worth it...?

Correct.
I love having Skeletons on the field. People just see red and think they must die, and it means they hit them instead of a Ghoul/Wight/Mummy.

Re: Undead Skellies: Ever worth it?
For a bit of a giggle i started an undead team with 12 skellies and 1 wight and did pretty well.

Looking back over the last 60+ games I have enjoyed the extra movement that the skellies have but i think the AV8 of a zombie is invaluable. the odds might be the same to have them off the pitch but I would rather have more uninjured zombies than stunned skeletons.
If I had to do it all again I would probably start with 2 and 2 and get more zombies along the way from kills
The Skeletons acting as wingers with Block/Tackle and the zombies as front line Block/Dauntless

Re: Undead Skellies: Ever worth it?
Although I am late to the debate, I have to say that I prefer Zombies in general. That AV8 is an improvement on AV7 most of the time, especially in the following circumstances:
- On the line of scrimmage.
- When falling over for some self-inflicted reason (GFIs, dodges)
The circumstances in which Skellies are better are:
- Against Claw.
- When speed matters.
Since I find it rare for Zombies to be unduly concerned by their movement limitations, I prefer them. I guess you could run (say) 3 Skellies as a potential anti-Claw defense on the LoS, but even this strikes me as somewhat theory-driven (in practice the Skellies will need to come on as reserves against the non-Claw teams). But I will nevertheless consider it next season. The main issue is that a stunned Zombie (or Skelly) is out of the game for a long time, because of their low movement - preventing the stun in the first place would appear to be more important.
All the best.

Hmmm... looks like I should try an undead team with skeletons sometime.
Zombies are much more "Necromantic" anyway. More "Graveyard".
Wasnt there a "did you know" about the original "champions of death" wich said that they used a lot of skellies ?

Re: Undead Skellies: Ever worth it?
I find that if I have all my positionals, I'm sacrificing something to start a Skeleton. What I'm sacrificing depends on who I'm up against. Vs. a weak line, it's no biggie, because I can send Mummies to the LOS and I only have to field one or two Zombies. But against bash, I need three Zombies on the line, and I find that the only reason I put a Skel on the pitch is that I'd rather have a sucky player with Kick and keep my passer-Ghoul/Wight safe in the reserves.
But as backups, they're notably better than Zombies.
