Re: Fun team
An all hobbo team would be cool I think. I'd also let Nobbla go on the team, if needed as well as Rashnak as I think the fluff would still be met. And I don't think it's the hobbos being xenophobic, more that no self-respecting STAR will play for them!
I thought there was a "did you know" in one of the older LRBs explaining how bad they were, but I couldn't find it.

Well, it takes him that long to tie up his boot laces."Smeborg wrote:You may be thinking of Skurfrik Stonesucker.Aliboon wrote:I thought there was a "did you know" in one of the older LRBs explaining how bad they were, but I couldn't find it.

A really slow team is allways a challange.
Zombiehorde:
2 flesh golems
11-13 zombies
some rerolls
Good luck.

Re: Fun team
I've played a NAF tournament with the full-snotling team and I got 1-3-2.
Take into account that you will have a massive amount of mnoey for inducements, I've played with Chef, Wizard and so...
So the final message is that they are not so underpowered

Re: Fun team
Yeah but I guess that playing that team in a tournament is very different from league play. In the tournament you can probably start with 1.3 million in TV so that gives you an additional 300,000gp in inducements, which can definitely make a difference. On top of that you probably play in "resurrection" tournaments where injuries aren't carried over from one game to the next. In a league the full snotling team is probably just a "one shot", after the first game you'll probably have so many casualties that you may as well just restart the team.Pakulkan wrote:I've played a NAF tournament with the full-snotling team and I got 1-3-2.

By the way what was your starting roster and what inducements did you take?

Re: Fun team
I believe running a snotling team is more viable than you’d think in terms of survival.
You can get 14 snots and 3 re-rolls for 490K which leaves you with enough cash to buy 25 replacements and you should get plenty of inducements each game to bring a star or 2. If the league runs the bank rule then you might have an issue since the key is to hoard cash and rely on inducement money.
Since the majority of the injuries you suffer won’t be career ending even if every player end up in the cas box then you should still have enough for a full squad and get enough new cash to buy 1-2 players.
Of course actually winning a game or even score a touchdown could well be tricky. Plus if you are facing 2000TV teams then spending all that inducement money on useful inducements may prove tricky.

No fan factor, coaches or cheerleaders? I guess that relying on luck is important here, shouldn't you take 9 in fan factor to hope for Fame +2 and then pray for a pitch invasion or a rock? The pitch invasion sounds like the best hope of scoring for a full snotling team...

90k is almost two thirds of a wizard's cost. No reason eating into inducement money.narg wrote:Is that your starting roster, 14 snots and 3 re-rolls?

Re: Fun team
Fan Factor is a bit of a waste in a league for most teams and even more so for a Snotling team as it would quickly drop since you will lose, a lot.
2-3 cheerleaders or coaches would be better value but even then each of them is worth half a player and reduces your inducement money.
The simple tactic is to run away a lot, and rely on the star players and wizard.
Remember I am speaking about using them as a fun team and keeping them as a viable full squad for a whole season. Unless you are very much better than your opponents or blessed by nuffle himself then you won’t be winning the league. But every Win or draw, even TD or cas you manage can be seen as a minor victory.
It is a no win situation for your opponent too, if he wins there is nothing to brag about, whilst losing would bring eternal shame.

Even against newer coaches I couldn't see a rookie snotling-only team (w/out induced Star Players) ever scoring or stopping a touchdown. MA5, STR1, and Titchy are really, really bad.

How about one scoring against Jimjimany when he's using Wood Elves?RogueThirteen wrote:Even against newer coaches I couldn't see a rookie snotling-only team (w/out induced Star Players) ever scoring or stopping a touchdown. MA5, STR1, and Titchy are really, really bad.

The amount of money was the same than other teams. I had 105 TR team with:narg wrote:Yeah but I guess that playing that team in a tournament is very different from league play. By the way what was your starting roster and what inducements did you take?
Full 16 snotlings
1 Wizard
1 Master Chef
3 Rerrolls
1 Cheerleader
1 Assistant Coach
1 Apothecary
Take into account that in league matches you will lose lots of snotlings, but also you will have 450k in treasury to restock them.
The only problem is that in the tournament I had two double skills (Guard to one snot and Dauntless to other

On top of that, for the first 3-4 matches is not probably that you should face many Blocks or Tackles, that give your Dodge skill an extra value.
I found that Snots play quite well the "elven Defense" using tackle zones, you will probalby lose 4-5 of them every match, but it means 100k every match to restock them (you have treasury for 3-4 matches at least, without counting the money of the aftermacth).
