Explain why Galak, just saying no is not good enough, its not adding them both to the same dice roll, and if you read a book about how to hurt people when they are on the floor, i think that those same theries still work when applied with a chainsaw.

Munky's sig. says it all:
Galak, do you think we could start a "Next Rules Review Questions" sticky at the top of the Rules Queries section? I believe you mentioned you have such a list, and it would be good to have it as a reference. Combined with the "Rules FAQ's" sticky, it might cut down on some of the repetitive posts.
Still, as there isn't an offical word on this it's your league and your rules. Perhaps it is something that the Rules Review can look at, especially if they are looking to make illegal weapons accessible to every team.We do not need more rules that encourage casualty-hunting as a replacement for skillful play.

well, i am not galak, but anyway...Explain why Galak, just saying no is not good enough

a chainsaw attack is no block. it´s not a different kind of block or a "special" block... it´s a chainsaw attack, made instead of a block.
you don´t make a block instead of a block, get it? that´s not possible.
he did explain it. if you read the whole thread, you will realise this.
if that´s not enough for you write to games-workshop, maybe they will think this dilemma worth of their attention. i seriously doubt they will.
actually i fear that you can foul someone with a chainsaw and, if you have dirty player skill, get either +3/+2 or +5/+0 on the rolls. cause using a chainsaw is not a skill and therefore only 1 skill is used.
that can only happen if you allow secret weapons to rookie players of course. so it won´t happen during an official tournament soon.

Okay strict reading of the Chainsaw rules and I have two things to say.massacre wrote:Explain why Galak, just saying no is not good enough, its not adding them both to the same dice roll, and if you read a book about how to hurt people when they are on the floor, i think that those same theries still work when applied with a chainsaw.
1) According to a strict read of the rules, I would have to agree that DP and a Chainsaw could combine. However the rules are VERY clear that normal chainsaw use is an "attack" not a "block". This means NO using other skills during the use against upright players. I will also add that if I was commish of the league, I would house rule to cover the vagueness and say that DP cannot be used with a Chainsaw because I agree with +3/+2 or +5/+0 modifiers for any reason on a single person fouling. If your commish allows it then fine, I will agree with you that the wording in the rules allow the potential argument that DP and a Chainsaw could be used on a foul. I will state again though ... not in my leagues and yes I have a league where Chainsaw players can get skills (however I should note ... I don't allow CAS points for secret weapon use only for true blocking).
2) Unfortunately my research showed up another one of the rule changes that Andy Hall made to Blood Bowl when no one was looking.
LRB 1.0: A chainsaw could be used to lend a +3 assist to a foul when the chainsaw player was not the fouler.
LRB 1.3 and 2.0: Now it says he cannot.
Oh well, item 1,001 on my list of rule changes that Andy snuck into the rules outside of the BBRC rule changes only in October process that I'll have to change the PBeM program for now that I've found it.

Ok guys, thanks for all the input!
I must say that GW wording suxs at times, this whole thing would be so much clearer if only the LRB went :-
"A player armed with a chainsaw is allowed to use it to attack other players instead of making a block."
Rather than :-
"A player armed with a chainsaw is allowed to use it to attack other players instead of making a normal block."
because if its not normal then it leaves room for saying that it is still a kind of block, just not a normal one
So....
here is my logic behind the post (be for you all think me some rabid mad man)
If you attack someone with your fists = a Block
If you attack someone with a chainsaw = not a "normal Block" (but still a kind of block)
Now dont start posting "but we have already told you damn it" cos i am only explaining my PoV on how GW wording suxs.
Toddles!
