no don't start with a thrower...especially in a short league you want to build up your line elves quickly. to do that THEY need to be the ones getting the comps, that way whoever gets the mvp is likely to get a skill.
a thrower hogs all the comp spp for himself..so after 10 games great, he has sure hands & accurate, meanwhile you have a bunch of line elves with nothing.
Radical Wood Elf Team for a mid-term league, whaddya think?

I agree with Wes on this one - throwers hog your SPPs, as do all the positional players to an extent.
I've been playing two Woody teams recently both using the 10 LineElf 1 Wardancer setup. 1 of teams had 2 RR the other 3 and all the rest in FF.
At ECBBL I took 3 deaths in the first two games - harsh luck but it's the risk you take with AV 7. Other than that the team is played 6 won 2, but now it has recovered from the early losses it has 4 Blodge players, a kicker and two guards and a 12 elf line up. So its getting to the stage where it can start to cause opponents real problems (I hope)
My online TRUBBL team is played 2 (and a half - ongoing) won 2 (drawing the 3rd). This one started with 3 rerolls FF 5. The first two games were won very convincingly but I didn't get enough cash to buy an apoth till the end of the second game which resulted in my Wardancer sitting out game 3 with an SI mng (which is causing me real problems playing Lizards men down).
With both teams I found what I needed most was cash, and the best way to be certain of cash is high fan factor. In a league with low FF the favoured set-up I would definitely crank up FF to make sure you get large gate modifiers on the winnings.
But that's just the musings of a fairly new Woody coach - next time I start a league team I think I'd consider 10 Line Elves, 1 War Dancer, Apo, 1 Reroll, 8 FF rather than gamble on surviving the first game intact and buying the apo later.
