He was 5 back of the LoS against the CDs, presumably to prevent a CD blitz and he (correctly) assumed that the CD coach would not blitz a Bull back there and then be unable to get him back behind the CD line.

Against me, I see him 5 back as well to prevent a TG blitz if he kicks first and knowing I won't blitz a Blitz-Ra out there alone and let him get mobbed. I was thinking of what you described. Chain block the Norse Line away from the strong side (where the ball lands) and pick it up (hopefully!) to move behind the majority of my team. He plays no Thrower so will only have 4 Linemen on the pitch (2 Zerkers, 2 Runners, 2 Ulfs, Troll) and if his Line is tied up on the weakside (or off the pitch entirely), he will only have one Lineman to run interference on the strongside in his attempt to protect his core players.

The CD coach did not prioritize the Troll correctly but also did not swing on the Zerkers as much as he should have. I will not make that mistake as I believe taking those 3 players out are the key to breaking the team and bringing home the Critical Cup for the Khemri.

Match is almost certainly set for next Tuesday! For those of you that listen to the show, there may be a familiar voice sitting in the commentator's booth for me while I'm down on the sideline coaching...

Thanks Brad! I'm not sure how detailed I want to update the thread after the game tonight - I want the 3DB coverage of Critical Bowl XIII to be a surprise for listeners! I may have people who want to know PM me instead.

Either way, it is always great to get more coaches into the Khemri! The bash team that starts with zero ability to bash! Not to mention the worst agility in the entire game! But the theme is so rich - Gotta love 'em!

Also, be warned - if you check our league website - iowa.bloodbowlleague.com - the game has been posted so avoid if you do not want it spoiled!

Thought I would look to get some opinions on an odd Blitz-Ra that I have developed.

I rolled a 6/4 on her first skill up and I took the +MA even though I assumed it wouldnt be worth the team value, because I wanted to see how it played out. This went as I expected and was not worth taking. However, on her next skill up she rolled another 6/4 so I took the +MA again and now have a very strange 8 moving blitz-ra. She is 2 SPP away from her third skill up and I dont really have a firm idea of what direction I want to go with this skill.

I would certainly keep a +ST or +AG here and would not take the +AV on another 6/4.

I feel like on a double I would go with dodge and then try for break tackle down the road.

On a normal skill up I dont know if I would just go with guard (my other blitzra is MiB, PO, Tackle) or if I should reinforce the mobility with something like break tackle or fend. I could also do a blitzing skill like MiB, Tackle, Frenzy, Dauntless etc. Personally I feel like I usually blitz with the other blitzra.

Thought?

I would be inclined to take Tackle on a normal skill (for long-range blitzing). On a double I would consider S-Feet (to be followed by Sprint if you get a 2nd double).

[Edit: by the way, you have a one-turn-scorer there, lol.]

Side Step on a double. Get a Grab TG and a Frenzy BR. Then 1TTD will be as easy as ... well, okay, but still.

Sprint or Sure Feet will get him killed trying to use it.

The threat of a 1TTD can be valuable all in and of itself.

Imagine your opponent scored on his T8 and the ball is coming to you. The threat of a 1TTD makes him line up his players in a way that you can block/foul more important ones.

With my necro team I've got the speed for a 1TTD, but not the agility (though I currently have 4 ag+ players) - but it does affect the line ups I see...

Not arguing against 1TTD, just suggesting that you take the skill with more application BEYOND 1TTD.

More Iowa coaches using this thread for Khemri advice...my secret is out! :)

I agree with Dodge on doubles. Break Tackle now is so-so without the Dodge but if you don't take it and she makes it to 51, what then? Do you use the +MV to score/carry the ball? If so, Sure Hands might seem redundant but the Khemri can never have too much help picking up the ball. I also like Juggernaut because of her range but then that pretty much requires you to take Dauntless or Frenzy at 76.

Wow, she REALLY needs doubles next! :P

I can't wait to get a crack at her during our Week 1 game!

I didnt really give any frame of reference on my skill choice question.

I would normally have thought tackle on a normal roll also, however I have a block +MA Tackle Throw-Ra and I also have a MiB, Piling On, Tackle Blitz Ra. I only have 2 Tomb Guardians with Guard currently, the other two will be taking it next skill but they dont currently have it. Also I havent rolled doubles on any skeletons so I dont have any guard there either.

I do kinda like the sidestep on doubles idea. Could as you suggest get a grab Tomb Guardian and put frenzy onto the killer wight to have the really bad one turn score option =)
