I agree with Nazgit. If you really need your troll to do something, you're a goblin coach.

i would go for:

two throwers - because you can pick up ball everywhere and close cage in first turn very easy when you have offence.

at least one gobo - because you can close empty square for
chainpush, you can dodge and score at situations, no one else in this
team can.

troll - because st 5/mighty blow and in combo with gobo you can do one timer wich sometimes wins game for you he´s a good center.

more tactical variation = not predictable

I dont have a clue but I have been very interested in this thread.

I think I have used more "Races" in NAF tourneys than anyone else (Ian tell if I am wrong, currently used 10 and with Undead at the DO this weekend 11. I think I am 6th or 7th in NAF games played).

My point: I have been trying to work out where to get Orcs into the list and I think you guys may have inspired me. Perhaps the BB is the place to play Orcs.

I dont want to get into any fights over trolls but with 4 ST4 guys do you really need to tie up 100K in a player that frankly can be liability?
I use a Mino with CDs and Norse (and I seem to have done ok with them) every time because thier roster capability really benefits from what the Mino brings to the team composition. But with Orcs I cant see it?

I can see having 4 ST4 guys is clever. Particualrly at the BB where you only get 5 skills anyway so multi- guard teams are rare. And then to give them Guard as well.....case closed.
Only 3 Blitzers? Hmmm. Goblins in the team? hmmm. (I am a bit with Joe on this, stunty guys often spend alot of the game in the dug out and a good player knows how to hunt them down).

I interested in more views but I have written (well its on my spreadsheet) what my Tr100 Orcs roster would be so I am intrigued to the opinions.

4 Bobs

4 Blitzer

1 Chukka

2 Lino & Apoth or 3 Lino

2RR

FF2

Block on the chukka 1st and then guard the BOB's till the cows come home!

Don't activate him at all if you can't afford to lose his TZ ... at ST5 he can afford to just stand there. If you do activate him, do it last.

Try to maximise 3 dice blocks ... the main use for a Troll IMO is as a mighty blow LoS basher surpreme.

People will generally avoid a Troll if they can, so he will often only have a Move action to make ... in which case no turnover can occur. :) In that case activate the Troll first, and then change your plan if he goes stupid.

I can get through most games without ever really needing the Troll to do something more than once, if at all. True, that is easier to manage with a developed team than a starting TR100 roster, but the principle is still there.
so what you mean to say buy an expensive player and then don't use him.
That isn't what I said. I said don't use him if you can't afford for him to mess up ... i.e. use him wisely. That is very different from not using him at all.
