Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
I've heard this question before myself. I suspect the confusion comes from Hail Mary Pass, which refers to both TTM and Blizzard (though not in reference to each other). Nowhere else in the manual are two mentioned in the same paragraph.

I would like to say to begin with that while my tactics are improving, they certainly didn't do it all by themselves. The fact that whatever my opponant tried to do failed, however, did.
The human team was only slightly higher rated then mine, so I only got a single reroll from enducements.
His team consisted of a mix of Blitzers (one with Guard - very irritating), Throwers (one with Strong Arm and Accurate), Catchers (the usual affair), Linesmen (don't remember what skills they had) and a rookie Ogre.
I won the roll off and decided to kick to him. I also decided to take the stance that 'There Is No Ball' and just pummel his team into the dirt.
His first turn saw his Ogre suffer Bone 'ead and just stand there, him scooping up the ball and attempting to throw it to one of his catchers and completely missing. I responded with a crush of Chaos Warriors storming around the ball and kicking people's heads in.
Several turns passed with a relative stalemate (my Tackle Beastman was injured but not badly effected by the Ogre, and a Foul knocked out one of his Catchers). The Ogre then failed another Bone 'ead roll, and while he managed to grab the ball again he then messed up another throw (to a Linesman who had legged it downfield) and it bounced right next to the endzone and sidelines. Two of my Beastmen ran back down field and smacked the Linesman on his face (right next to the sidelines) and stood guard next to the ball. My Chaos Warrior then, with two assists, smashed the Ogre to the dirt and badly injured him (my opponant quickly used his Apothecary, and I rolled exactly the same result again)!
My opponant, rather fed up with his bad rolling, decided that his luck had to change and did a desperate dodge and grab on the ball with his Linesman. Who prompted tripped over a hoof and fell onto the ball, scattering it directly into the waiting arms of my Beastman. A blinding pass followed by equally blinding blitz straight through the human's crumbling lines and I had the ball halfway down the enemy's half with a cage of Chaos Warriors protecting it!
Unable to stop me, I romp over to the touchline and score on turn 5!
Rolling for Knockouts he gets all his players back whereas I don't get my single Knocked Out Chaos Warrior.
Cheering Fans give my opponant another reroll. In an attempt to equalise my opponant dodges through my line and tries to throw the ball to his waiting catcher. And fumbles. Right next to the Line of Scrimage.
So follows the rest of the half with my team denying him any oppertunity to pick the ball up, and badly injuring his 'Star' Thrower with the same Chaos Warrior that bashed the Ogre.
I get my Chaos Warrior back and get ready to storm down the pitch during the next half. Cheering Fans give him a much needed reroll. Again.
My opponant rolls a bad kick and it goes off the pitch. I give it to one of my Chaos Warriors, and I quickly bash my way into the enemy half of the pitch and form a cage.
Unfortunately the resulting brawl results in nothing bar a few extra Knockouts on both sides, and I fail to get the ball further down the pitch. The enemy almost get the ball and break out the side side, but a swift block plants it back into my hands and I pass the ball to the other side of the pitch and form a half cage with a handful of Beastmen on turn 7. My opponant tries and fails to get the ball back, but places tackle zones where I don't want them. So I decide to blitz a hole, and roll very badly. The final turn of the game saw my opponant suddenly get all his jam in one big lump when he blitz the ball carrier, has the ball bounce into the waiting arms of his second Thrower, who dodges away and Long Bombs it down the pitch to a catcher and then scores the equaliser.
So close, yet so far...
Results: 1 - 1.
Neither side suffered any ill effects (bar my opponant losing a Fan Factor and alot of his pride), and we receive 30k and 60k (mine) in winnings. Very nice indeed!
This draw caused something amazing to happen on the league tables - I moved off the bottom!
#1 received the MVP and thus 9SPP. I rolled a basic skill and gave him Block. Should be useful. I also bought myself another Beastman so I can keep extras on the bench.
Remember, Reth is your ball-carrier until he gets a TD.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.
Coming along. Yep, try to skill up at least one player every game. Reth should be the target player for your next TD, however, don't let that blind you to other opportunities. If you get a chance to stick it in the end zone, do it, doesn't matter which player happens to be next to the ball when they fumble. If it's a beastman with 0 SPP or the one with 19, win the game. All SPPs help your team. Just if you have a choice, get the guy closest to skilling up the ball.
But good game. Does you league not play overtime?

It's a Dark Elf world, we just let you live in it to provide fresh victims. - and I still want an Executioner to kill sauruses with.
Don't bother picking up any more players except for a Minotaur now. 4 Rerolls, a Minotaur, 4 Chaos Warriors, Apoth and 8-9 Beastmen is all you need for a Chaos side.
5 Rerolls if you find you burn a lot of them. Then you just save the rest of your cash to replace lost players.
Yeah, I'm just going to save up some money for the next few matches. Then I'll see what I need next.
A Minotaur would be nice. As it is my opponants are struggling against even my Beastmen, so having a S5 Frenzy/Mighty Blow Beastman is going to be a pain for them.
A minotaur can be a real help on a Chaos team. On offense you can use him to blow open a hole the defensive line. On defense, you can use him as a vicious linebacker. Get him a couple of skills and he can be the best player on your team.

Don't foget that that S5 Frenzy/Mighty Blow guy gets Claws as his first skill on a normal roll which goes a long way towards taking armored players off the field as well as scaring your opponent and serving as a distraction to free up your beastmen.
I think he'll be getting Break Tackle first, to be honest. Trying to dodge to get at a ball carrier with only AG2 isn't exactly what I'd call a wise move.
Claw would be second, though. Either that or Foul Appearence (since I don't want people hitting him too much!) or Juggernaut.
Claw is always my first non-doubles pick as it skills him up faster towards the second skill (which would be either Break Tackle, Foul App or Juggernaut depending on the league).
Well it's mostly because there's only a small number of >AV8 players in the league (namely a Treeman, an Ogre and a pair of Black Orc Blockers).
Claw will be given to a Chaos Warrior soon, though. Probably the one who has Block already.
Hmmm... Devious thoughts...
Who thinks that Multiple Block paired with Dauntless would be a good skill for a Beastman?
Am I right in thinking that this would result in (for example) a S3 attacker facing two S3 defenders would result in both defenders having S5 and the attacker (if he rolls 3+ for each defender) gets a one dice block against each of them?
If so, would this make a good cage defender type character?
If paired with another Beastman with Guard, would he get effective S6 when multiple blocking?
