I've played FF1 in all my tournament games. Call me lucky, but in about 35 tournament games last year it didn't hurt me at all. Most opponents have a low FF as well.
I don't see much use in dropping a player, RR or apothecary for a high FF, just hoping for a 12, 11 or 3 at the kickoff roll. And even if, a pitch Invasion with mostly stuns or Throw-a-Rock might not influence the game as much. Get the Ref can be mean, esp. at the first kickoff and/or if the opponent has a DP.
Dark Elfs are a hardly competitive team in a TR100 tournament. If you want to play them, maybe look for a TR110 environment, this is where they can do well (e.g. second place in M3). For TR100, WE and (maybe?) Pro Elfs are a much better choice.
And finally if you really want try it, i'd try to sneak a witch elf or two into the roster for additional speed and/or maybe drop a RR for an apothecary (=effectively a 12th player).
Bit radical, but maybe worth a try:
2 Witches, 1 Blitzer, 8 Lineelfs, 1 RR, 1 Apo, 2 FF or
4 Blitzers, 7 Lineelfs, 1 RR, 1 Apo, 1 FF (or 2 RR, no Apo)
Put block (or sidestep?) on both witches and Dodge on the Blitzer and use these 3 to run the ball. Top off with a Dirty Player Lineman maybe?

I'd go 4 Blitzers, 7 Line elves, 2TRR, 1 FF.
Elves just can't afford higher FF IMO - and like Tim said most people take low FF anyway.
Also I'd never want to go into a game without 2 rerolls. No dodge, sure hands, catch or pass means you'll need them.
As Tim said, DE aren't particularly competitive (even at TR110) because they are skill light (like Chaos and High Elves) but still have expensive players.
You can do well with them but I think you'll need more luck than Wood Elves. Pro Elves are undetermined - I think NoS instead of Leap has hurt them a lot for tournament play, but cheaper players may help out a lot.

Good lineup for TR 100!I'd go 4 Blitzers, 7 Line elves, 2TRR, 1 FF.

As for the fan factor:
yes, you were lucky to get away like this.I've played FF1 in all my tournament games. Call me lucky, but in about 35 tournament games last year it didn't hurt me at all. Most opponents have a low FF as well

In tournaments, many people will just have as many FF as there will be expendible money left. Others are more into ff and go with a really high one (like 7 or even 9), also speculating on winning the cheering fans/brilliant coaching results which gives not only the equivalent of money back but also denies a rr to the other team. It's more than throw a rock or a PI. And it's personal preference.
Oh, and Tim:, my mind is not the best but last year there was one of your games in Paris against other CDs when...ah, where have memories gone?

I won some impressive titles in 198X, some more in 199X, even more impressive titles in 200X, some of them REALLY impressive, and a few even MORE impressive! Not to mention a lot of less impressive ones.

Sandro had a quite important rock thrown against me, but if i recall it correctly he had a low FF as well. So it's just plain bad luck. Yes, you could argue that i could have dropped a player/RR and invested into FF to avoid this. But maybe having 13 players and 3 RRs really made the difference that actually got me to the final? You never know ...

I'll take Dark elf team for a small friendly championship this weekend. We will only play sunday so 4 matches maximum. I like 4 blitzer team, but I think this will make me loose witch elf properties... without dodge I think I'll need more RR.
Eje, a friend suggested this roster:
2 blitzer
1 witch
8 lineman
2 RR
3 FF
seems quite good but I think it lacks from positional players. I always wanted to try giving leap to witches to see if they can open cages using frenzy...

Looks good but I'd drop 2 ff to turn a lineman into a thrower. With dark elves you need every skill you can get, the 2 ff probably won't matter much as most players go full ff (ie 9) or minimal (ie 1).Ancalagon wrote:I'll take Dark elf team for a small friendly championship this weekend. It probably wont work as you'll get a push, and end up with a 1/2 dice block - and when you have neither block nor strip ball the odds aren't in your favour anyway.Ancalagon wrote:I always wanted to try giving leap to witches to see if they can open cages using frenzy...
I think the lineup is okay - and maybe dropping to FF1 for the thrower is a good idea - but FF3 does give you an edge for those kick off rolls.
I used to believe the 4 blitzer lineup was the best one, but Witches can be very useful so its probably worth it.

strip ball would be the second skill for the "other witch" if I had one.
accuracy for him?ianwilliams wrote:I think the lineup is okay - and maybe dropping to FF1 for the thrower is a good idea -
I have FF3 with my lizzies, is quite useful.ianwilliams wrote:but FF3 does give you an edge for those kick off rolls.
yes... I think blitzers are good but after playing lizards for so long I think having a good variety of skills is really useful, in fact they allow to play with less RR. Again I think dodge is quite necessary, because although they have Ag 4 a lot of dodge rolls will be done.ianwilliams wrote:I used to believe the 4 blitzer lineup was the best one, but Witches can be very useful so its probably worth it.

Thanks for your suggestions, but I think I'll try another skill than block on the witch... Just beacuse I don't want to choose the "easy way".
Most teams will be bash teams, form a list of 12 (max 20 teams) there's only 1 skaven, 1 wood elf and 1 high elf.
