Talk Fantasy Football

Been playing my Dark Elves (9 Line / 2 Blitz ) vs. Lizzies ( 5 Saurus / 7 Skink ), and I usually end up kicking off. I start out with the classic 3-4-4, and his Sauruses(?) make mincemeat of my line, seal off the inside, and form the cage. I have lucked out so far, in both getting the turnovers and avoiding injuries...but I wanted to know if that's what weaker teams have to do against Lizzies. It's tough not having at least one big guy that can be an anchor, and playing the wait-and-see game with all those Skinks flying around is nervewracking. True, I'm a rookie coach, but I realize the importance of tried-and-true setups, and I'm eager to hear what other coaches have come up with for dealing with these glorified tadpoles...

Well at the the beginning Lizards won't have much block - at the very beginning none. Getting tackle takes time too. So if he doesn't play his cage with some patience you can easily sail in and nail his ball carrier with 2D and block.

On Defense focus on blitzing the skinks because they are stunties and try and really slow down his cage.

If you can get into the Lizards back field fast - from a blitz or a blown pick up, you can really threated them - they have no sure hands or ag4 - and can't pass well.

Blitz a skink every turn no matter what
Rookie sauri are lousy, they don't have block and they won't move if you put them in a tackle zone. Tie a couple of them and go skink hunting.

Hit a skink everyturn is good advice.

I also tend to match up on his Sauri. He can't dodge, with you there, but if you make him throw a lot of blocks, he is going to burn those rerolls on them, instead of ball pick ups and handoffs. Unfortunately it is risky as it could go both good and bad for you.

Also Foul. Foul skinks. Push them off the pitch when possible and basicly just do anything you can to eliminate them.

I played Wood Elves vs. Lizards not long ago, and my strategy was to force them to use their re-rolls and then wait for them to turn over the ball. A guy with strip ball will help greatly to do this. Lizards suck at picking up the ball, so you want them to have to try it as much as possible.

I won 3-0, but I did lose my Wardancer on a foul twice, which couldn't be saved by my apoth the 2nd time

Yep, all good advice, thanks...I'm a bit nervous because I'm a rookie coach, playing Dark Elves for the first time, in a league with 3 Dwarf teams and a Lizzy team. My games with the Lizzies were real eye openers, and I would think that my strategy against them would be similar to what I would need to do against the Dwarves. Anyways, thanks again!
