Tackling Wardancer

So my Wardancer got tackle as his first skill, now here's what I was thinking doing with him. Give him pass block, then diving tackle, then shadowing.

The idea is that you can leave a receiver open, then you use pass block to get a tackle zone on him when your opponent figures he's got a safe target. The guy also has to dodge out if he gets the catch, but cant use his dodge skill. Next you shadow the guy until he eventually misses a dodge roll, which would force him to use a reroll. Finally, when the guy is out of option and tries to dodge again, you drop the diving tackle.

Think that would work? Anyone tried something similar yet?

Well, if you've only got one pass block guy, it isn't that hard to avoid him getting a tz on your catcher.

Further, a war dancer on the ground is a war dancer soon to be fouled, so DT can be a bit risky. I'd say overall you really need to tailor WDs to go after running teams that use cages - strip ball is almost an obligatory first, non-dubs, choice, IMO.

DT tackle might be worth it, especially with tackle. If the diving tackle succeeds it is a turn over so no chance of fouling. Probably better than pass block for the purpose of stopping receivers. A diving tackler can easily be used to block the route to the end zone of more than one catcher when positioned well enough. But don't forget to add side step to that list. Its great to have tackle, DT and shadowing, but not if you get blitzed away.

Well I had a wardancer who had strip ball, but sadly he was killed. I decided to give this new one tackle, to knock down annoying receivers like the gutter runners. I'd rather have them go down and have a chance at injuring them. On the other hand one of my catchers has dauntless so I was thinking of giving him strip ball, as it was suggested in another thread. I also have another Wardancer which gained Jump Up on a double. Anyway, I think Sidestep will be next in line for both Wardancers. Any attempt at tackling is better served when you know that the guy won't be able to blitz you off his back.

Best would be to give him shadowing now. The combo tackle/shadowing is really effective against catchers, and is superior IMO to tackle/pass block.
I'd give him side-step though ;-)

i agree with void seer. tackle with shadowing is purely annoying....followed by sidestep so they can't block/blitz him off.

Side Step as 2nd skill! Much more efficient in all respects.

As I really couldn't decide between the skills, as they are all good choices on a WD, I'll rather remain silent. :)

No, just kidding. My first choice would have been strip ball, but as you seem to develop him as a receiver stopper instead of a cage buster, take shadowing now. Sidestep next.

I'd give him strip ball.

His primary job is getting the ball loose - make him good at that.

one of my wd get tackle and strip ball to get the ball, to second get side step to make him good for offence
