a longbeard with guard.
better skill choice -- stand firm or sidestep
standfirm keeps in place and allows free dodge
but sidestep could dance around and screw with opponent.
hmmmmmmmmm

I always forget about that Stand Firm goes on a failed dodge ..
But i always take that on a doubles with longbeards.

Stand Firm every time.
If you have frenzy then maybe side step, but I'd still take SF. Just being able to dodge for the hell of it (well maybe I need a 6 but what they hey, I can't fall over).

I like dodge--used to take it all the time on doubles for my dwarves (any of them). Lately, I've let myself get caught up in the 'Must take standfirm' furor and haven't taken dodge, but I think I'm going back to it.
I take it for the affect on blocking dice more than the RR when you dodge (at least in regards to LB's and slayers). Most non-dwarf teams only have one or 2 guys with tackle on their teams. If I have a runner with dodge and a couple of longbeards with dodge...which one is my opponent going to use his tackler on?? Turns out dodge on a longbeard is not a bad choice at all. at least in my mind.

have u seen sidestepping longbeards in action with guard? it screws up blocking plans if u don't get knock down!

I would go for stand firm.

I'd say sidestep. More likely to screw up your opponent. The free dodge of SF is great on a lot of players but far less so on a longbeard.

I'd say in some ways its better on low AG players - because you can try stupid stuff without risk.

I would definitely take stand firm. Sidestep just does fit with a longbeard in my opinion.
