Hints for Chaos dwarves against orcs.
Hi dudes!
Newest update on my current team:
4x CDBs +guard
1x CDB +guard, MB
1x CDB unskilled
BC +block
BC unskilled
Troll +leader
Hob +dirty player
Hob +block
Hob +block, sure hands
Hob +block, kick
Hob unskilled
4RR, 8FF, apoth, 2 ass. coaches
Our league consists of wood, high and pro elfs, norse, orcs and chaos dwarves (me).
While I seem to be able to dominate the elf and norse teams, I have difficulties playing against the orcs. We play hidden rosters, so I cant be exactly sure about his roster, but I'll tell you, what I know.
4 black orcs, all have block, one has ST5
4 blitzers, at least 2 with guard, one has dodge, one is ST4
ogre (old rules) with block and tackle, I think
1 thrower with dumpoff
probably 2 or 3 linemen
4RR
Usually, I try and break a hole in my opponents line to form a cage and rumble down the pitch. With all my guard and the BC's strength, this is not much of a problem usually.
These orcs though have 2 guys with ST5, 4 more with ST4 and everyone else still has block. I have absolutely no idea how to break through here. My idea was, since I can't outbash them, I might try to outflair them. But I have no clue that way either. So I'm pretty helpless right now. Can someone enlighten me?
Thanks!

dirty player> use it to eliminate those black orcs or guarders early on
as for your offence, just play it how you usually do
or you can give the ball to a centaur and make quick tds try it

Got that.Zy-Nox wrote:dirty player> use it to eliminate those black orcs or guarders early on

Well, that's exactly the point. It seems impossible to break through, even with my BCs. There are just too many ST4 dudes on his side.as for your offence, just play it how you usually do
Yeah, I thought about that but even they need to break through.or you can give the ball to a centaur and make quick tds try it

You have 5 Guards and a troll,
Smack his line, Then with any players who are free, run them through and put tz's on his guys
Then Run the bull through with the ball
and score in two turns.
try and take out his thrower too, Its av8 so shouldnt be a problem.
Have your kicker kick it deep when your on D,
It will be a lot nicer if you get the ref

I'd try to out manouver them on offence. Although your line is slow, the key players (BC) are strong and fast ... too bad they are so unskilled. Don't you use them for scoring??? Both my BCs lead the my home league for scoring ...
So give the ball to a BC, then pull him to one side of the pitch and build a cage of CDs around him. Have the other BC lurking in proximity and some Hobgobs too. Wait until most Orcs commit to this side. Then suddenly, use BC without the ball to break a hole and sneak through with BC #2 carrying the ball doing max. sprints in towards the endzone and the opposite side of the pitch. Move the free CDs from the cage into TZs of his faster players (ignore the BlackOrcs and the Troll, they are too slow), then try to dodge a couple of Hobgobs out and position a screen between the lonely BC and the opponents.
In his turn, he'll try to catch the BC with the blitzers, so make him dodge and GFI as much as possible. Try to make him use the blitz to get to the BC, so he can't hit him.
In your turn after you'll have a BC and a few hobs against a couple of Orc Blitzers, that's usually an easy score. (Much easier if the BC had Break Tackle ... first skill ALWAYS).
Btw, if the Orcs do not commit to the sideline, well, even better, just bash through the sideline. The primary target for your DP should be the ST4 Blitzer, he's really dangerous because he's the only opponent that can catch up with and bring down a BC on his won.

First of all about that BC issue:
Yeah, I know it was a mistake not taking BT but block. And the second BC is a replacement for an aged -MA bull I had previously. Last night game at least corrected that mistake on the first BC and also the second is up to 5 SPPs now. I do try and score with them anyway, but in tight situations I ratherrely on the sure hands gobbo (strip ball WDs and the like).
Ok, I think I can see a pattern there. Perhaps I should really try and wait a turn or two and then make a dash for it with the bulls. Having BT now should make things easier anyway.
