As you know yesterday I received my lizardmen team and couldn't wait untill having it painted, so called a friend to play a match. Those are my first impressions. I played against a new orc team, I built my team in this way: 5 saurus, 4 skinks, 1 human thrower, 1 elf thrower, 2 RR, 9 FF.
First of all I have to say something about luck... my friend made two injuries in first and second turn and all were against my saurus (av 9) so I played nearly all match with much less strenght than him.
Saurus worked well, they move fast and when oponent left them alone could help blocking or blitzing another players, but if the oponent has more players on the pitch than you, your first match will be so difficult, because they don't have block, near them are usually two or more enemies and due it's ag can't dodge, so the only thing you can do is keeping them onto their feet and wait, or try those ugly dice (2 rolled choose him). This is what happened in my first match.
About skinks... well I enjoyed how fast they move, but I have to say I played always with DE so I missed ag 4 when taking the ball. I had disavantage on strenght but I could do first TD using one skink. Althoug they have low av my friend didn't make any injury.
About allies... well, they didn't much. I lost one turn trying to dodge with human thrower and I couldn't do a pass with none of them, but sure when I learn how to play well with them will do their job.
If your wonder how finished that match, well we did 2 parts and 3rd time and all finished 1-1. Each of us had 1 dead (his dead was due crowd invading pitch), he had 1 injury for next match and I had 2 of them (my poor little saurus).
At the end, I have to say that lizards are strong but like any other team in BB ir your op. has enough luck there's very few to do. Having two saurus less let him keep my other 3 saurus nearly stoped and I only could start my work when on a kick crowd injured his black ork and norse thrower, equalizing number of inj. players in two teams. If had same number of players almost in first half I'm sure I'd win.
Again if you have suggestions or advice, you r wellcome.

I just finished our 3rd league season (4th edition gold, at the time) with lizardmen and I have to say they're an interesting team to play.

The weakness, obviously, is the high degree of specialisation. It tends to advertise your plays to your opponent when running the ball and makes it hard to recover when a play breaks down.

It's nice having 5 ST4 players on the pitch (I found 5 Saurus, 6 skinks to be the ideal starting 11) as it gives you some freedom to make your first block count and makes for a tough cage if you're forced onto the back foot. The problem is that it's easy to tie them up as you cannot dodge away if you're man-marked. Block, Break Tackle, Mighty Blow are all useful. Jump Up and Stand Firm are handy on doubles rolls.

Skinks are great fun to play, they have fantastic movement and stunty/dodge can really give the opposition fits. Generally I had them running behind the cover of a Saurus wall and breaking out when clear. Sure Hands is essential on 2 of them, Dauntless came in handy on doubles rolls and 2 or 3 with passblock, played on the wings to charge down the fullback off the kickoff made for some great high-pressure defense.

Most players in the league were theorising that if you whale on the skinks then the lizardman team would be stuck for players that could handle the ball. While it's easier said than done, in the odd occassion where I was faced with an injured box full of skinks the game really was a struggle. Taking care to keep your skinks out of harms way is definitely something to bear in mind with this team and is certainly a weakness.

Oh, and how did we do? 10 games, 8 wins, 2 losses. Top of the league table, knocked out by Dark Elves (and 6 double skulls) in the semis

Yes cos small guys with low armor and big guys with low movement. It's seems pretty difficult to play but we have two new teams of lizardmen so let us see their results.

Well, i think the advantage of lizards is the opponent!

I play in a league in which lizard teams only can get 0-4 saurus and 0-16 skinks, and i think it could be better than 6 saurus.. the reason is "STUNTY" and mov 8.

The opponent only sees ST 2.. but if you take all your skinks out from ther tackle zones, it wont be a problem. Anyway, when skinks get block, its really difficult to stop them.

Certainly, the first and second match.. its difficult to win, but later it becomes in a good team.

Nowadays, using 2k1 rules it's really difficult for skinks to have block. Lizards have lost lots of possibilities since I wrote first topic. Now I have to say that this is a team that shouldn't be used by a newbie or he/she will loose lots of matches (we are talking about league playing).
