Tackle or Sidestep on Wardancers?

I recently got a second advance on my Wardancer with Strip Ball. The sticky post says Tackle is the skill to take but I wonder if Sidestep isn´t better. As long as the ballcarrier doesn´t got got sure hands the tackle isn´t that much needed to get he ball. What do you think?

My other WD got Sidestep as his first skill and I find it wonderful. I plan to give him tackle on his second to use on SH carriers and on defence.

Any thoughts on this are apreciated!

Id give him sidestep personnally. In my expereince sidestep is very useful alot of the time but tackle can be complety useless in a lot of games (when you opponant doesnt have dodge).

It also helpd that your other wardancer already has the skill because that way you wont be like "now, which one had side step again?" Sidestep makes your wardancers ultra flexible and hard to lay a hand on an can be very fustration to opponants as you can happy lurk in dangerous places without a care in the world.

Any more thpights on this? Why is Tackle always recommended before Sidestep on most charts?

My favourite second skill is also side step. But tackle is also a skill you want to take on a wd. Most teams have dodge somewhere. And since your linemen are better off taking blodge first, it will take some time for them to get tackle. It depends a little on how often you put your wd in a risky position.

Many coaches will have 1 WD with tackle and 1 with strip ball.
Then use tackle on dodge+sure hands ballcarriers and strip ball on block+dodge. This covers the most.
So side step is not a bad idea as long as you give tackle to your second WD next.

exactly, i think tacle+side and strip+side is the way to develop your 2 WDs.

Tackle is generally useful for hitting catcher types - not just hitting the ball carrier.

That's why I'd take it on both. It also frees up line elves to take Blodge 1st up.

I'd recommend Tackle prior to Side Step (edit) for Wardancers in new teams in new leagues containing a considerable amount of dodgers. Later on, I'd always go Side Step first to keep your 120k investment alive. At that point your team should include players with Tackle anyhow.

I'm with Ian on this, I take tackle on both my WDs as they are the only player in a WE team that regulary hit players. You linemen hit now and then when you really need to, but your WD is a pretty sure bet to hit a player at least once in a game (at least the way I play this team). You'll have to make your own choice tho, Sidestep keeps your WD on the pitch a bit longer if he jumps into cage's in every game, but Tackle will probably get some of those catchers and ball carriers prone more often until your next skill.

Thanks for all the advice. I´m still not sure how to choose, thou...

BTW, I´m enterning the semifinals in our small tournament and wonder what to buy for my 110k. This is my current team:

WD with SB and skill
WD with sidestep
Lineelf with Block, Dodge
2x Lineelf with Block
Lineelf with Guard
6x Linelf (one with niggling)

FF8 and 2RR. TR 143

Should I go for a Treeman, Catcher or Reroll. No players will miss next game. I get 200k for winning and 100k for 2:nd so a short term buy could be worth it. I like the current Treeman but not the coming on-pith take root.

i said that you should get strip then side on one WD, and tackle then side on the second, but of course you can (should) get tackle on the stripper :)
only i think it can wait the third or fourth skill.
