Probably No 1 with FF 9 and an extra GR instead of a lineman.
In my experience you've got to have an Apothecary as the low AV is gonna hurt you early on, and Team development is going to be hindered. if you start without one, then its gonna have to be your first purchase and by then you may already be a man down, and relying on 50k from the first game, which is not guarenteed. The other option would be to replace a GR with a Defensively minded Rat Ogre and drop the FF to compensate.
My team in the MBBL2 started with a Rat Ogre, 2 Gutter Runners, a Thrower, a fistful of Liinemen and an apothecary. Plus couple of RR. can't remember the starting FF. So far they've won 2 and lost 1, but if i had the choice again i would power up on Storm Vermin instead of linemen., and regig the FF. I think i had 12 players to begin. the Low AV has hurt me , but now i've got a 13 man squad, and although i have been really lucky to have snatched victory ( in my opinion ) due to the Skill of my GR's, the team is now developing nicely.
and what about this one ?

My preferred startup (for longer-term league) is this:
8 Linerats,
1 Thrower,
1 Gutter Runner,
2 Storm Vermin
3 Rerolls
9 Fan Factor
GRs can score without much help, but the Storm Vermin need to develop and only having one GR will force you to use the SV. The next purchase should be an apoth.

Thats the one i would take if i could redo my starting line-up. the only diff was i didn't start with a Storm Vermin, and had 2 linemen instead and dropped a FF.

I'd go the standard 1TS route with 1 GR; Shadowing, Tackle, Diving Tackle(Jump Up) with the second and Block, Sidestep, Catch(NOS) with the third.
That's one to get points, one to be a shutdown pass defender and one to be an allrounder.
Stormvermin get stuff like Strip Ball, Tackle, Pass Block, Sure hands. Their job is to go after opposing ball carriers.
Linerats get Block, plus lots of DIrty Player, Strip Ball and so on. Cannon Fodder plus irritants.
Throwers get stuff like Accurate, Strong Arm and Safe Throw. Possibly Dump off to play a devastating Option offence with that all rounder GR as the Tailback and the SV as Full backs leading the way.
But what the hell do I know - I haven't played Skaven since 2nd edition.

Beastman? -10k because of the ally? WTF?
Which edition of the game are you playing? no allies at the moment.
(Get a linerat with a double Horns though!)

I think there was an old rule from back in one of the Compendiums for 3e that said you lose 1 FF for hiring an ally. Even if you do play with those (crazy/outdated/unbalanced

) rules, you don't take off 10K for the lost FF.

I thought it was something used ...
never mind, I'll stay with my Rat Ogre, he is good too

Listen carefully, I will say this only once:
Do Not Buy A Ratogre For Your Starting Team Unless You Really Like Losing*

*assuming 4th ed WA rules of course

Unless You Really Like Losing
I have to disagree with you. A rat ogre doesn't nessecarily mean you'll lose. If you know what you're doing, you can avoid getting your WA into trouble.

I'm with Marcus on this one. I seriously dislike the 4ed Wild Animal rules.
If a Troll/Ogre fails his Big Guy skill, he becomes a useless piece of lead/pewter/plastic on the field.
If a Rat Ogre/Minotaur fails... the team turn ends. period. Can't even roll over your stunned guys.
Not worth it IMO.

I'd have to agree with Marcus as well. Not just for the WA that the RO brings, but more for the 130k he costs. With AV7, AG3, and not much block, the skaven need bodies, and plently of them. Plus, as rats get sent flying off the pitch that WA becomes more pronounced and easier to exploit. If the RO is 1 of 11, then the skaven coach can protect him. If he is 1 of 7, good luck.
