rolled st+1 on a wood elf thrower. major problem he has no skills and lost an av (av6). normal logic is keep the best stat in the game but my only thrower in newish team.
do i keep the +1st?
rolled doubles so could pick any skill
or as he has no skills just take strong arm/accurate as planned?
cheers
also have a wardancer with st4 if that changes advice

take +1strength, av 6 only matters if he's brought down, and getting him down will be much harder as he has str 4.

I always take the +ST when I rolled double 6.

I understand that you're having doubts about that +st for your thrower, but see it that way:
1- on offense: once your thrower has passed, what can he do? With 4 st, he can help beat up the opposition... + People will have more trouble trying to steal the ball from him with his strength.
2- on defense: instead of cowering because your thrower might get beaten up, now your thrower will have another job of hitting, instead of getting hit...

hmmm lots of st votes.
now i am pretty good with WE and on offense i throw turn two and score with regular style

but on defense i tend to keep him off pitch if i can as he has nothing i would rather than a lineman.
major problem am playing with vualt rules and that adds 50k to his cost for ST, would be 30k for differnet double skills. I think he not worth the extra value as it would be marginal a av6 hitter running round. major headache has neither surehands, accurate or block so will stunt his effectiviness. And he is also my only thrower after 10 games. I have won plenty on defense.
So is he that good on defense?

On defense he is a +1 st lineman. Would u rather have a st 3 lineman or a st 4 one?

A +1st lineman with the av of a halfling.

I've had a minotaur with the AV of a halfling... he still smacked a lot of people down.
Keep him but be prepared for him to get mangled. Don't sink too many SPPs into him and there's no need to use him exclusively as a thrower - think of him as a lino that has some options when he gets the ball...
Go with your usual lineman route for development (or at least as long as he survives). Block, Dodge, Sidestep, Tackle, whatever... just Block first.

My advise would be to keep the strength and to stop thinking about the player as a thrower. In any case, all elves can pass the ball if need be. And now you have a +ST lineman that got a double for free.

cheers think will go with strong arm... think he will die quick anyway so my only thrower should take a throw upgrade. I am playing to cap in vault and pretty near currently.

Take the ST... ball carriers benefit from it immensely.

in WEs teams, throwers are very rarely "carriers". they're more "hidden in the backfield waiting for an opportunity to throw that long pass" ^^
