Hi all! Missed me, don't you?!?

Classes are back running, spendo the most part of my time trying to figure out how Cellular Automatons work, or sleeping in corners..

In the meantime..the first part of my league (the one we call "Pre League") ended. And guess how I ended?

LAST! In a 6 team conference. I'm soooooo low on morale I'm toying with the idea to drop my Celtic Grinders. I won the first game against High Elves, been trashed againts Undead (simply I could not stand against those mummies), lost against the Amazons thanks to my players totally unable to pick up the ball, and in the two last games had two really (no pun) games against Wood Elves and Orcs, the first lost 2-3, the latter 1-2.

At the moment, here's my team:

-3 Blitzers, one with Guard, one withg Might Blow
-2 Catchers, one Dodge, one Side Step
-2 Throwers, one with ST 4, one with Sure Hands (lucky git, ain't I? The only double is a double 6 on a Thro!)
-7 Linemen, one with Tackle, one with Dirty Player, one with a skill still to assign.
No Treasure, 3 RR, FF8.

At first, I think I missed totally the high FF. In my league many teams have a low one, and anyway I think that even surpassing the "40.001" threshold...when you roll a d6, having +1 or +2 doesn't change too much the result. Maybe better a 4th Re Roll.

Then..really guys, I don't know how better I could have done. In many games I just never had the cance to score save one time.

My WE opponent told me he thinks Norse are not good because their fixed 6-3-3-7 theme..while maybe a M 7 or 8 could help a bit more. Also I have a very low Cas ratio..always taking down the opponent, but I rolled simply TOO MUCH 8-9, and the Dirty Player and Mighty Blow after 3 games each didn't change the things. I'm unable to roll a 10+ on the injury dice, so thanks to my AV 7 I end up low in number, especiali against high ST teams.

Bad luck had its weight on my dice..but I'm quite disappointed. 35% because of my not-so-good tactics, but mainly (as I usually am a 2-3 staindig player) because of the team that didn't work too well.

Too bad! Also because my favourite Sumo fighter ended the last tournamente with a 7-8 score! :-?

Anyway, what's new?!? Is everything ok?!? :D

Personally i dislike norse, but i noticed one thing abour your roster.... the lack of an ogre/minotaur. Since norse seem to me to be inherently a weaker team, i think ST5 would help out a lot...

Hmm how did you start the team?

You got an Apo right? You need an Ogre (desperately!), and a 4th Blitzer.
Otherwise the team looks OK, the open skill should be Kick. You probably should have started with the Ogre, i like to do this, it gives the team stamina and someone to deal with high STR players.

Now, coaching Norse is not the easiest thing, you lack speed and agility to outrun opponents and you lack toughness to outnumber them (most of the time). Your big strength is the Block skill (obviously) and the 4 players with Frenzy. Try a caging game next to the sidelines, keeping the Blitzers more to the middle of the pitch, so you constantly threaten to push any defender out. Manage the clock, that's very important for Norse. Maximise the hits on your opponents, only a prone opponent is a good one. Even more important, minimize the times your opponent can hit you. And use your Block skill to get away from opponents. Remember that a 1db with Block without following is the same as a 2+ dodgeout elfs do. Use it.

However, once most teams in the league reach about TR160-170, the Norse are definitely one of the weaker teams. The All-Block advantage starts to fade away, Anti-Frenzy-Skills turn up more often, while the lack of a decent stat line is something that stays (unless you are really lucky). To counter this, load up on tackle and hope doubles to get dauntless and guard on the linemen. Develop the catchers into runners (dodge, SS, Sprint, Sure feet, Sure hands).
