LZM vs Ogres tourney final
Well, my up to now quite victorius Lizards (5 Saurus with Block, onbe with frenzy, Kroxigor with Block, 1 Skink with sidestep, one Skink with catch one Skink with sure feet and sprint, 2 unskilled Skinks, two sidestep skinks who are badly hurt and have to pause) are up against Ogres.
The Ogreteam has 7 Ogres and an assorted number of Golbins in it.
I have enough cash to hire a Wizard.
My Problem: Although nearly all of my Saurus Warrior have block, the higher S + mighty blow would still leave the ogres in the lead.
The basic thing seems to be: My Skinks are better than his Gobbos, My Saurus are worse then his Ogres.
Therefore, my basic plan is: -Blitz a Goblin in every turn
- never follow ogres
- 1 D blocks
-Foul, every ogre less takes away a lot of pressure
- keep my Kroxigor in the reserve so that there is a Blitzer that a possible Ogre ball carrier has to something worry about.
- Use my Wizard if they get the funny idea to form a cage.
Oh, this is the final of a tourney, there is a special rule:
"At each kickoff (apart from the first) roll a D6, one a 1 you get riots (D6 turns pass) on a 2-4 a a fan throws a stone (one randomly selected player gets one injury roll) a 5-6 is a storm the field, D6 players are hit."
This always affects both teams (on a 2-4 every team get one hit, on a 5-6 every tam gets D6 hits) and doesnt care about the fan factor.
These effects take place in additiion to the normal kick off results.
As we both have 7 AV9 and a bunch of AV7 small players this should effect us in the same way.

lizardmen fouling is usually a bad idea. especially if you're fouling ogres....most likely stuns...with thick skull.
foul gobbos' if you're gonna foul.

hello mightypeon,
to be honest i would not worry about this game, not all of his ogres will have block and break tackle so dont be afraid to tie up ogres with your saurus....they can take the punishment, thus leaving your skinks to gang up on gobbos and score, but be aware he will be planning on using the same tactics, so make sure you have some saurus spare to protect your skinks.
and i just played a game against ogres with my lizzies and every turn as my last move i threw a two dice his choice block, and won seven out of ten. and what with there bonehead rule he will be lucky if all of his ogres can move in the same turn so you should be able to exploit the no tackle zones to your advantage. i won the game 2-0 comfortably.
and make the most of your kroxigor by using him to blitz with an assist and you will soon reap the benifits. at first i was very worried about the ogres but the are too often let down by there bonehaed rule, so you should not really worry.
