5 player team - lineup

Post by Leggyguy »

An interesting tournament format has appeared on fumbbl recently, bloodbowl fives.

I played this and sevens years ago, but haven't tried it recently.

If you were to create a team of 5 players, what would your start-up team look like?

I was thinking dwarf myself:

2 x blitzer
1 x runner
1 x troll slayer
1 x Longbeard

There seems to be an idea that undead/necro type teams are the way to go, but I have to admit I find them boring.

So what would your team be? I would be really interested to know.

Another thing to think about, is we have to create a team of 11, then trim it down to 5. There must be a real clever way to do this and get as many team rerolls as possible through clever manipulation of team creation! I just can't think of it.

The leage is around 8 games, plus playoff.

Nope, not the same league. This one is normal bb, just only 5 players may be in the roster.

For this league, no restrictions apply, simply any team, just 5 players. No restrictions. 5 players on the pitch at a time, etc.

4v4 has existed for quite some time already, this is just more devleopped...
by the way, this format is really fun, but suffers a LOT from randomness.

2 WD = 240k
3 Catchers = 270k
6 linelves = 420k

then it is either 2 FF and 1 RR or 2 FF and an apoth or 7 FF.

i think there are scarier teams out there.

ogres could be fun :)

It seems that Chaos with 4xCW and a Mino, or Khemri with 4xMummies and a blitz-ra (or throwra) are VERY popular teams in this format

i would think Skaven with a RO, 2 SV, and 2 GR would be as well, as it was in 4v4 with only one GR.

Well, you have to remember, you woodie coaches, that you have to have more than half of your team on the line of scrimage when your opponent receives. Your catches and such are gonna get battered and beaten before they have much chance of getting skills.

I am now thinking of going 1 x thrower, 4 x blitzer on an Orc team. Or swap 1 blitzer for a Troll. I can have 4 x rerolls then. And I find Orcs fun to play. Alternatively, I like Dark Elves, so 4 x blitzer, maybe 1x dancer.

I hate Khemri and undead teams, I just can't have fun using them. Dwarves or Orcs, possibly Chaos or DE, are in my plans.

Maybe CD's with 2 BC, 2 CDB, and a mino?

lack of ag3 might be a problem, but you could substitute one of those guys for a hobgoblin if you really need it. Two BC's, could be very good in this kind of leagure as ballcarriers... with the ability to move 9 squares, as well as st4 and break tackler later, they could be monsters, unless of course theres something i havent thought of yet. The new re roll prices on CD might be a problem, bout can be worked around...

zyad's suggestion is good, since the low priced hobgobs allows for some cheap team... that would be 9 FF and 2 RR or 3 RR and 4 FF (with the new pricing).

That team could bash and run with the best of them, but picking up the ball in the first few games would cause me to be not very competitive early in the league.

I can see how, with a few skills, the team could be a good team.

I went with orcs though.
